Meet Malysa Le of Panya Fabricate Welding and Machine in Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Malysa Le.

Malysa, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
21 years ago, My father Jose Panyanouvong started the company in our backyard and it was Panya Custom Welding. Growing up, I occasionally helped my father by passing him tools and going to job sites because I was amused by everything he fabricated. I didn’t always have an interest for the company. After graduation, I went to college and got my degree in the medical field.

After eight years of practice, my father asked me to learn his business and to go back to school for Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering. After five years of learning the business and fabrication industry, I was able to break ground and hit the floor running. The industry was a bit intimidating at first because 96% is male and the other 4% is female. After acquiring the business, I bought out my father and changed the name to Panya Fabricate Welding and Machine. From 21 years ago to now, I’ve been able to grow the business by 250%. We currently support the automotive, aerospace. airport system, oil rig, structural, agriculture, and custom fabrication.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Its been a learning curve for sure. Everyday I am constantly learning something different. Many of my employees have years of experience in welding, CNC machining, tooling, shearing, braking and lathe. I had to understand not just from an engineering standpoint, but how drafting, fabrication and being on the field is completely different.

As a business owner, I had to learn and know as much, if not more than my employees and clients in order to understand their needs and gain knowledge in order to execute the final product. I trained with my welders to understand the different methods and types of welding, how to work a saw, ironworker, shearing braking, CNC machining, driving 24ft trucks and forklifts. Coming from the medical field to the fabrication world was like learning a new language. I didn’t understand the strengths of metal, types of metal, methods to everything from gases to wires. After five years in the business, I am still learning each day.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Integrity is an important trait to have. When you are honest, people will believe in you, also take pride in knowing that you are honest with yourself and others. Integrity can help to define who you are and how you act towards others. I am very honest and transparent with my customers and employees. I am a woman-owned as well as not in the business to squeeze out every dollar. I do what I do because I fell in love with the industry and create products in so many industries and that’s what feeds my soul at the end of the day. Integrity is what got me as far as I am today.
