Today we’d like to introduce you to Geoffrey Fuller.
Geoffrey, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve always had a talent and an affinity for art and drawing. I like cartoons because I also get to incorporate my comedy. So, earlier this year, I decided to start making art, cartoons, and even children’s books. When it came to my cartoons, I dabbled with many styles and landed on an almost elementary, rather poorly drawn style because it adds to the humor. As for the children’s books, my nephew was definitely an inspiration.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The process to write and illustrate children’s picture books might seem easy but it’s difficult. Fitting the whole plot of a story into a few hundred words, while also making the story exciting/intriguing, is rather strategic.
We’d love to hear more about your art.
I specialize in comedic cartoons, art, and children’s picture books. I’m known for my dry humor and use of puns in my cartoons; puns are pretty polarizing but people who love them, LOVE them.
The thing I’m most proud of is the clean comedy I put into my cartoons. It’s too easy to use sexual references, profanity, and other means to achieve an easy laugh. I like making jokes that anyone can appreciate and that won’t embarrass myself or my parents.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
If you’re happy with where you are, what you are, who you are, and where you’re going, you’re successful.
