Today we’d like to introduce you to Suha and Hanan Ibrahim.
Thanks for sharing your story with us. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Me and Hanan started in California, we both went to cosmetology school and obtained cosmetology licenses in 2008, and owned a Salon in Azusa, CA with our beautiful mom! for about eight years, it was a family affair we really had a great dynamic! and Hanan worked at a makeup school learning the ins and outs of the business, and fell more in love with makeup instead of hair! So on the weekends we collaborated and started a bridal and wedding travel glam service! We traveled to work on brides hair & makeup from all walks of life! (Hanan did the makeup & I (Susu) did the hairstyling ) for all Different ethnicities, styles & budgets ! and the rush and feeling of satisfaction of boosting confidence to our clients was un-matched, but what pushed us to open up boss beauty were two major things, first it was all the clients that asked where we had our training every time we did glam services on them!
And truly we were self-taught! And they always seemed to be interested in starting a similar business due to the exciting vibes we had during the glam sessions! We always played music and had mimosas and joking around with the bridal party to help with wedding stress levels and WE GOT PAID VERY WELL! Almost $150 per hour minimum… so we had a lot of people inquire about makeup and hairstyling classes. 2nd was because Hanan had moved to Texas to be closer to her fiancé! And we couldn’t work apart to book these events so there was a lot of pressure and stress to make it work it was either she moved back to California or I (Suha Ibrahim) move to Dallas Texas to start the glam business! So I decided to move to the big D. The rest is history we have built an entire empire in less than two years and we are so excited to share all the opportunities with our community and makeup/hair lovers!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It hasn’t been smooth, we had a lot of obstacles in the beginning. Hanan carried most of the weight ALONE. First-year into business, due to the fact that I was a single parent trying to move to a whole new state, legal battles, child custody trials and finances were out of Wack! But once I was able to plant my feet on the ground we collaborated and found solutions that worked for us, and we worked very closely together and we communicated about everything, making sure our students are happy and very satisfied with their training! But mainly it was finding balance! I think we’re ok now haha.
Boss Beauty Makeup Academy – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We are a makeup academy, that offers extensive training in the beauty industry without having to put in 1600 hours to get licensed in cosmetology but still gain enough skills that teaches everything a person has needs know in order to jumpstart a career or side business and start making an income immediately! We teach 16-week classes of makeup! Special Fx, fantasy makeup, runway, airbrush! Hair design, hair extensions, updos, bridal business Microblading & so much more! We are truly known for changing lives, motivating our students and giving them the confidence they need to go out and offer their services! We have collaborated with top cosmetic retail stores, they give us first priority on job listings & job openings to give our highly trained students and graduates the opportunity to snag jobs before the untrained general public!
We also offer paid internships for those who qualify! We allow our students to start classes and place them on affordable payment plans, we give our girls everything they need, including all the makeup to practice and work on actual clients! But what sets us apart truly is that we’re a family-owned and operated academy and we do everything with our hearts and we are a very warm and welcoming atmosphere and our staff are so helpful and they happen to be graduates;)! Our girls stay very close and they come to our free education Friday events and they take full advantage of OUR FREE RETAKES FOR LIFE. We offer every student the opportunity to retake the classes for free for life, with any instructor of their choice, as many times as needed until they are 100% ready to work on clients! So it’s like a lifetimes membership that helps our girls evolve constantly!
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
We define success by having the ability to change people’s lives through teaching and doing what we love and Spreading the knowledge & experience we have accumulated all these years.
Being recognized for something that was accomplished and able to work remotely from across the world is something that we would love to achieve! And being a part of every student’s success journey would be a dream come true.
