Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtney Franke.
Courtney, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
As a student at Texas Tech University, I met my husband, Chad. In 2012, he was offered a position in Odessa, TX where we lived for two years pursuing his career and beginning mine in college recruitment. Fast forward another two years when we were unexpectedly called to Fort Worth. Chad’s company offered an opportunity that allowed for continued growth in his career while I began an amazing opportunity with a recruiting firm as an Executive Recruiter of Accounting and Finance.
On July 15, 2015, our prayers were answered. Our beautiful daughter was born! Transitioning from a working mom to a stay at home mom allowed for more free time. After watching our good friend Kellyn, owner of BASH Lubbock, along with continued prayer we decided to bring BASH to North Fort Worth. To no surprise, this has been the perfect fit for our family. What better choice in owning a small business than one that celebrates the joyful moments in life!? Owning BASH North Fort Worth has given my four-year-old daughter the ability to see the hard work and dedication that goes into owning a small business. She knows that it’s possible to be a great mom while still pursuing your dreams. I hope the example I am setting for her will give her the confidence someday to do the same!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’d be lying if I said starting a new business is easy. I stumbled across the analogy of “success is an iceberg” early on and it has stuck with me ever since. From the outside looking in, we tend to focus on the “success” of the business rather than having a full understanding of what lies beneath- hard work, late nights/early mornings, persistence, risks, doubt, etc.
The biggest challenge starting out was understanding that just because we were open for business didn’t mean we would have a full schedule right off the bat. Looking back, it seems silly that I thought the business would take off right away. The iceberg analogy is so true!
I am thankful for the support of my husband, family and friends. Truth is, we aren’t meant to do life alone. That applies to all aspects of life, running a business included. My friend and mentor Lucina has given me so much insight and wisdom that I am forever grateful for. If you don’t have a person in your life that’s willing to give it to you straight, find that person and keep them close.
