Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Sinclair and Courtney Mair.
Danielle and Courtney, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Courtney and I came up with the idea of starting a Women’s clothing boutique carrying sizes S-3X on Facebook in June of 2013. Our motto has always been “Friends don’t let friends pay retail!” We started in Courtney’s spare bedroom and ran everything out of our houses, just the two of us. Two and a half years later we had outgrown the bedroom and decided to move everything over to the play room in my house, but soon after had taken over my entire upstairs. We worked out of my house for as long as we possibly could but knew we didn’t have enough room to keep going. At this time, we had two girls helping us ship items out as we tried to keep up with everything else, but we were wearing ourselves thin and working 24/7. In August of 2016 we found the perfect location in Keller, TX for a store front right on Main Street! It was everything we hoped for and so much more, consisting of a gorgeous stoppable store, space for our office, and space for shipping and receiving! After two solid months of working 90/week, we had our grand opening on November 12, 2016. It has been the most amazing year and humbling to look back and see how far we’ve come! Swanky Chic is now 4 years old and home to 10 beautiful employees! Next up, we will be opening a second location in Grapevine, TX this October!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There was about a 6-month span of time in 2014 that we didn’t do anything, in fact, some of our family and friends thought we had given up on our dream. We had to overcome the way Facebook had changed the algorithms, which didn’t allow ladies that were following us to see what we were posting. After our time off, we had to come up with a new plan, which was starting our VIP group on Facebook. This group allows women to see everything we post and have a close knit community like feeling since every post and response is from Courtney or myself.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Swanky Chic Boutique – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We specialize in making shopping easy and affordable with comment selling through our VIP group. We’ve heard from so many women across the nation how appreciative they are of being able to shop with ease and know they will always be up to date with all of the trends. Our customer service is what we pride ourselves on, and have always been known for, whether it’s online or in store! If you are a regular at our store front, you will more than likely been greeting by name and possibly even a hug! We love our customers like family and hope to always allow making women feel special!
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
As mentioned, we are thrilled to be opening a second location in October in the heart of Grapevine, and hope to continue on with others later on!
