Today we’d like to introduce you to Crystal and Shedrick Hay.
Crystal and Shedrick, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
We are a husband and wife team with unconditional love for travel. We both worked tirelessly for high demanding jobs and disparately needed to find a way out. We felt our full time jobs were stealing away precious time with your children and we were ready to put a stop to it. We never thought owning our own business would be attainable with two young children and full time jobs. Surprisingly, one night, we both decided that we were going to put our passion into a business and share our love of travel to others. With the support of my husband, I, Crystal Hay, felt completely motivated to start a travel business. Our years of personal travel, combined with my 10+ years of experience in US Passports through the State Department, also showed us that travel would be our next chapter. We researched, found a mentor, applied daily affirmations and prayer, then studied the inner workings of starting a travel agency from the ground up. In less than six months, we’ve helped hard-working families find a well deserved vacation, became accredited with the BBB and continued to educate our children on the importance of experiencing different cultures through travel. We chose to name our company SC Travel Group to build a legacy for our children- S is for Shedrick, C is for Crystal, and not to mention S is for Shayla (our 8yr old daughter), C is for Carson (our 4yr old son). We pride ourselves on providing our undivided attention to our clients-even to the youngest member in the family. “A family that travels together, builds the strongest bonds.”
Has it been a smooth road?
I’m not sure there’s even such a thing as a “smooth” road. With starting any business there will be challenges and obstacles. I’m thankful for and welcome challenges, it’s always a learning experience. You can’t please everyone and that’s OK. We found our struggle early on was reaching the attention of our “ideal client”. Our main focus is young professional families looking for a relaxing, upscale vacation- marketing that idea to catch the ideal client can be somewhat of a challenge. We had to learn a lot about marketing through social media outlets which, at times, can have you tapped out on creativity.

We are a full service travel agency. We specialize in destinations throughout the US, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Caribbean, Mexico and Disney Theme Parks. We plan and coordinate vacation packages for families, couples & solo trips. We also book cruises leaving out of any port in the US. We love to make sure everyone in the family is satisfied! We take our time in finding the perfect destination, resort and/or cruise that fits everyone’s needs. Whether our client is looking for a on-site water park, three bedroom villa, butler service or even swimming with dolphins- we will find it! We also love the small details. No matter the occasion, we aim to provide a tailor made experience to every client.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Dallas-Fort Worth is an amazing area for our business. It’s only a short non-stop flight from DFW to the Caribbean (2-3hrs)! That for us means paradise is literally “down the street”. Which also means easy travel for families with young children! Yes, for anyone starting, I would recommend starting in the DFW area!
