Today we’d like to introduce you to Tammie Warner.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Tammie. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
19 years old. Working in Chicken Express. A man walks in that just purchased the small flower shop in my hometown, Joshua Texas. He had been in many times before and enjoyed me waiting on him. He asked me to come work for him. I agreed, and so began the adventure. After a year of customer service, flower delivery and washing buckets I wanted to move forward. I had fallen in love with the flowers. I wanted to learn the art of floral design. I applied to the largest florist in Tarrant County, Bice’s Florist. This was the beginning of lifetime mentorships, friendships and knowledge. I worked for Buddy Bice off and on for eight years while starting a family.
In April of 2002, it was my turn to own my small piece of floral heaven in the Texas town our little family settled in, Boyd. The name had been in my head since 1997. MakeScents Floral Design was my heart and soul for eight years, but I still wanted more. I sold MakeScents in 2010 and started a freelance designer for many heavy hitting event companies in the US. Traveling the country designing flowers for high end clients was truly a dream come true.
I loved this time in my career, but my time was coming. I began to focus on marketing myself for weddings and corporate events. At this time, production was all completed at our farm in Boyd.
The business grew and I needed a new name. Fort Worth was the desired location for the new floral design studio that we named Camellia Farm Flora. We found the perfect spot in downtown Fort Worth and business has blossomed! We do weddings and corporate events at many hot spots in town, including City Club, Petroleum Club, The Kimball Art Museum, Ashton Depot, Fort Worth Club, The Modern Art Museum, just to name a few.
Has it been a smooth road?
Floral design event work is hard. It’s long days and late nights, cut up fingers and tired feet. When you love what you do, the challenges don’t seem to be remembered. The look on a brides face when she sees her reception space for the first time… That face erases any struggles I may have had forgotten.
Tell us more about the business.
Amazing floral art is our specialty! Coupled with superior customer service! Our floral designs are truly one of a kind works of art. Lush arrangements with high end, high quality flowers. Our five star review rating in all media platforms tells a wonderful story about our relationship with our clients, which is what we are most proud of.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The wedding industry is ever changing. Style, trends, colors, as designers, we never know what to expect. I strive to be a trend setter, Allowing my client’s vision, but also letting my design style show through in our work. I do see more structure coming back to wedding flowers. The trend has been a loose, bohemian style with tons of greenery. I see a shift to more of a clean, classic look over the next few years.
