Today we’d like to introduce you to Erin McCabe.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Erin. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I grew up in the furniture business as my grandfather owned the “go-to” furniture store in Little Rock, Arkansas years ago. While in college I worked for my parents’ online furniture store which specialized in home theater seating. Long story short, I graduated college with a degree in Fashion Merchandising and wasn’t able to find a job in my degree field. So I just decided to move forward with a business that I knew wouldn’t fail since most of the new builds in the Plano/Frisco/McKinney area were being built with media rooms. I opened the store almost 5 years ago and never looked back!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The store has had its ups and downs as far as not making numbers but it’s smooth sailing now! My main goal is to make sure all my customers are happy but sometimes things happen such as damages to product, late deliveries, etc. that are beyond my control which can cause customers to become upset. This has been a challenge for me as I’m a “people pleaser” when it comes to my customers and I take it personal when a customer is upset. Sometimes things don’t go according to plan so I’ve had to develop a lot of patience as a business owner.
McCabe’s Theater & Living – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I specialize in custom home theater seating and mainly focus on residential. I have provided seating for commercial spaces as well which has been fun! I recently worked on a project for a marine base which ended up being a very custom job and I had a great time creating their chairs! I try to make each customer have a very personalized experience from the customer service to the placement of their order. I enjoy working with people and learning about their lives instead of just treating them like “another customer.” My main focus is offering that “small business” feel in my store and making every customer feel comfortable shopping with me. I even bring my dog to work which is generally fun for most of my customers to see!
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My proudest moment isn’t one moment in particular but has actually been seeing the positive reviews that are left online. I love seeing my name mentioned next to a positive remark about how I was helpful and knowledgeable.

Good article Ernie. Every one buy your theater seating from my niece Erin. She is not only beautiful but she can help you find exactly what furniture you need
