Meet Bradley Rodgers Jr of Bird’s Eye Insurance in McKinney

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bradley Rodgers Jr.

Bradley, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Oddly enough, I began my career in High School, during my Junior year I was working in a restaurant industry and after a year of cooking, hosting and serving I knew that was not my passion. During High School, I was taking several dual credit collage classes such as business management and accounting. This is where I found my passion in the finance industry. During my senior year in High School, I took a leap and began applying at financial service institutions (i.e., banks, insurance agencies), one of these included my local State Farm office. After turning in my (unimpressive resume) I called/followed up weekly for an interview, with what seemed like 100 unreturned calls, 20 unreturned emails I decided to show up in person. The agency owner was impressed with my persistency that he hired me. I spent 5 years of my career with State Farm starting at just a cold caller/assistant to Sales Manager & Agent Aspirant. My last year with the company I achieved Agent Aspirant of the year overall in property and casualty and a top 5 finish in financial products (bank loans, life insurance, health products). Ready to do more, I partnered with a great group of people and formed Bird’s Eye Insurance Agency. We are a family-owned agency. While we maintain great coverage for the lowest premiums, our agency is built on customer service. In a business society that moves further and further from providing customer service and treating the customer with respect, we strive to hold on to the values that we opened our doors with!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’d never considered entrepreneurship a smooth road, even after seven years into this every day surprises me with a new challenge. As a young child I was raised by a single mother (Jana Rodgers- Pictured with me and my Fiancé Paulina Petrosky kissing her in front of the Rockefeller Tree) – She taught me no matter how big my dream was and or how big the obstacle I could achieve and do anything if I put in 110% effort. I also have the daily support from my Fiancé Paulina, she pushes me to be better every day. The insurance industry is dominated by career agents, it’s hard to break into an industry being so young. At only 24 years old even with seven years of experience, I have to prove myself not just to my clients but also other agents. Some people (peers and clients) also see my success and believe I no longer have the best interest for my clients, while I have been blessed tremendously the last few years it’s still my belief what you put into the world is what you get back out. I strive every day to be a better man, business owner, insurance agent, son, and now husband.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I can contribute Perseverance to my success. Every day in both my personal and professional life, I find new challenges. While some challenges I run into could and/or would make someone wave the white flag, they make me push to be better and stronger. I don’t believe in surrendering to life challenges, we’re put through struggles for a reason.
