Today we’d like to introduce you to Tim Sanders.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Since I was a kid, I always wanted to own my own business, I just thought I was going to be an electrician, like my dad. I started working for a local pool company in 2010 doing a maintenance route. I fell in love with the industry and realized what I was doing for them, I would be able to do for myself. I asked a friend’s dad for a loan of $600 to start my own business and did just that. For the first two years, I had a maintenance route and that was all. Then, I started furthering my education by taking classes, becoming licensed, watching videos, and networking on how to do equipment repairs. By year 3, I was doing equipment repairs. I managed a maintenance route and equipment repairs throughout year 6. During year 7, I began small renovations, tiling pools and painting pools for clients that didn’t want to resurface due to budget or preference.
Finally in 2018, I began doing full renovations including tile, plaster, coping, and decks. By 2019, I was building pools from the ground up, broke into the concrete industry doing more than just pool work but doing driveways and walkways as well, outdoor landscaping, and building patio covers. Wrapping up 2019, we average 3-4 complete renovations per month, what our suppliers say is a record for this area during this time of year.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. Many times I wanted to give up, thought that this wasn’t going to work out for me, and felt like I had no more room for growth. There were a lot of tough times, struggles, and sleepless nights but God always provided what was needed when it was needed. He encouraged me that I was on the right path and I couldn’t be prouder of myself for sticking with it to get to where I am today.

We specialize in swimming pool repairs, custom renovations, custom new builds, and outdoor living. We are known for our custom plaster at an affordable cost, using high-end finishes like glass beads and abalone shells over a wide range of color varieties. If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would have pushed myself harder to get out of my comfort zone sooner so that I could have gotten into renovations and building sooner.
