Meet Intelligent Comedian

Today we’d like to introduce you to Intelligent Comedian.

Intelligent Comedian, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Well to start off, the name Intelligent Comedian was created in 6th grade from the many compliments I received about being smart and funny which gave me the idea that I was an intelligent comedian. Afterwards, I made myself a YouTube channel uploading my first video when I was twelve just basically asking people to subscribe. As time went on, I would think of ideas that I could use to entertain my viewers on YouTube such as challenges and vlogs. After a good while of uploading content my best friend Johnathan at the time that I meet from my church motivated me to be a photographer because of our love for technology and entertaining. It was then that I found my true passion and my purpose for being on this earth.

I realized that I was born to be an artist so I researched about the art of photography and film making, learning and teaching myself the basics of how to find inspiration and create ideas off the top of my head. Then, I ask my mother for a camera on my 13th birthday and that’s when things started to pick up. Only being 13, I realized that my options were limited as to what I was allowed to do so I taught myself how to use the local dart train and would hop on mostly every weekend to explore the scene in downtown Dallas. After practicing taking photos and just having fun with my friends I made an Instagram page dedicated to posting my artwork. At first my photos sucked, I tended to bring down the quality with the software I had at the time and would make a photo look fake with the harsh contrast and glares that I would add. However, as time progressed I became better by YouTube videos and experimentation.

After begging my parents for another better camera everyone began to see how much of a talent and passion I have for film making and photography. Out of nowhere, people started to hit me up asking for photoshoots and price ranges which made me realize that I could potentially make a living by doing something I love. This not only inspired me to climb more buildings but also work on my social and networking skills which has brought me a long way. Now that I’ve explored the majority of downtown, I use it as my playground when it comes to developing good photos and vlog my process that entertains my viewers on my YouTube channel. In summary, I started off as a small YouTuber which branched off into photography in which all the skills and ideas I developed were all self-taught, attracting the attention of people who love my work. I love what I do and believe that as long as I keep grinding that I could turn my dream into a reality.

Has it been a smooth road?
It always hasn’t been a smooth road through this journey. Being young and not able to drive, I had to adapt to using my legs for everything, walking 20-30 mins to the nearest train station and to my destination. Finding my ways to rooftop access was a challenge but I also found it fun except when you’re caught by a security guard who wants to press charges for trespassing. Also working with people can be tough because they may have a certain way they want things done or have a schedule that doesn’t fit with your own. I’ve had many people hit me up last minute saying that the plans we made had to be canceled or postponed. Also, hate was something hard I had to face being told that my photos were trash and that I was no good at this art. Laziness and drugs factored in heavy causing me to stop the grind for a while. I would smoke a lot of weed and be too high and lazy to take advantage of the free time I had to go out there and explore. Also, I have had to work alone on many projects which helped me be able to conduct many jobs at once. With all that said, you tend to pick up a few tips and tricks that help you overcome certain obstacles as time goes on which caused me to mature a lot.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
My business is what I have to offer. I am a self-taught photographer and filmmaker. I can setup photoshoots for any event or occasion in which many of my clients were satisfied with. I am very flexible with my client’s schedule and make sure that they are getting the most out of what they paid for. I also film and vlog people who hire me as their cameraman and spend many hours editing footage to create a video that is to be watched and enjoyed. The thing I am most proud of was being featured on the Dallas Voyage for my work that I have spent my life creating. What sets me apart from others is my ability to be my own director, model, cameraman, editor, etc. all at once because of how much time I’ve spent alone.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
What I love about Dallas is the culture and the fact that in this city you can be whoever you want bringing diversity and a unique colorful vibe that you can’t find anywhere else. The fact that this city gives every individual so many recourses to let one figure out who they and what they want to do with their life. However, this city’s crime rate is terrible. It’s so common to hear someone dying on the news and growing up in the hood, I would often come home to a house that has been robbed, having many of my belongings that help me create content taken away.
