Thanks for sharing your story with us Keara. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
KMS GLAM developed in 2011 after I branched away from being a commission stylist for 5 years, to an independent stylist building my personal brand [using my initials] in a private one chair suite. The suite life was great for me because I was able to set a relaxing atmosphere for my client’s experience during a service. After 4 years of the suite, I realized that although it was nice having a private suite, I missed the camaraderie of an open floor salon. It was time for me to dream bigger and expand my horizons. KMS GLAM became KMS GLAM STUDIO. In April we celebrated our 2 year salon anniversary! Yay! We are a studio salon in the heart of DeSoto…. “A Woman’s Oasis” servicing real glam queens daily!
Has it been a smooth road?
On this road of entrepreneurship there are constant obstacles along the way. No matter how much you think you’ve planned something out to the “T”, there seems to always be a challenge. As a creative, the artistry comes natural. My biggest struggle has been mastering the art of business. Learning how to manage money more effectively, managing a salon and a team is a never ending lesson to be learned. The cool part about challenges is that you grow through them and come out stronger in the end.

Currently, everyone is a hairstylist. There is a salon on almost every corner in the Dallas Metroplex. You can go practically anywhere to receive a hair service but at KMS GLAM STUDIO… You get far much more. You will receive a flawless look and exceptional customer service. Our focus is you. We pride ourselves on making every guest feel comfortable and relaxed. Going to a hair salon is most ladies “Me Time”… we want to honor that!
We offer a variety of services from custom hair balayage, hair extensions, makeup, hair extensions and precision haircuts. We enjoy the fun “express yourself” looks of today but ultimately healthy hair is our number one priority. Special offers include our complimentary steam treatment with a shampoo & blow-dry on Wednesdays and also our $125 “Glam Queen” sew-in extensions special for new clients.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I definitely think Dallas is a great place to start a business. Dallas has grown so much over the past few years and will continue to grow. However, one must first think about their Target Market and demographics for the industry they wish to embark on. As far the beauty industry goes… there is a hair salon popping up on every corner in Dallas. The hair industry is a 60 billion dollar industry. Dallas wants a piece of that!
