Today we’d like to introduce you to Caitlyn Lubin.
Caitlyn, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Being born and raised in Miami/ Fort Lauderdale, FL I originally fell in love with modeling and acting at the age of 6 or 7 dressing up and going out in the tropical weather was like a stress relief for me. My Father (Romane Lubin) was like a fashion Guru! His taste for fashion was far beyond my knowledge at the time, so instead of actually appreciating my craft I was just putting on the clothes and posing,(which is what helped me perfect some poses now) sometimes I didn’t even like the styles because in school kids wouldn’t look at it as fashion they looked at it as ugly and me being young I didn’t know any better, but eventually I grew to realize that some fashion no matter cute or ugly is still fashion!
So throughout the years of growing, I would audition for “modeling agencies” but they weren’t legit because they would ask for too much money and eventually I learned that if someone wants you to model for them, they’re not gonna ask for money right off top or at all even! That’s when I started trying to do commercials and the same thing would happen I would turn it down due to financial reasons. Now I’m about 13-14 and around this time I wasn’t really focusing on modeling, I was just living life to my best ability trying to find myself (which I didn’t fully succeed in because I’m still finding parts of myself everyday) especially since my dad was about to up and moved my mom (Christine Walker) and I to Dallas, TX. I have never been afraid of change so once my dad told about the move I was up and ready to go! Until it was actually time to go… I had to leave so many family members back in Florida. It was hard and still is hard till this day, I have some aunts and cousin here in Texas but I have all my Sisters, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, Grandparents, uncles, aunts everybody basically! Back in Miami.
So I knew coming here I was going to really have to focus because I wouldn’t have as much support as would over in Miami! So it’s like 2016 fall and we are now living in Garland, TX I started off by expanding my wardrobe. I would purchase many different types of styles and clothes from either thrifts or boutiques and rock my fits at school or out in the streets and people loved it! I would get compliments on top of compliments and I was so appreciative, I would also get girls that weren’t as confident or that didn’t really know how to go about picking out clothes ask me to give them advice or to go thrifting with them! I truly love the feeling of making another person feel great about themselves, and that’s when I realized this is something I want to do full time! I was thankful enough to have a cousin (Greg) use his camera to take me some professional pictures to start to build a portfolio for my self and my social media.
Has it been a smooth road?
The main struggles I had to go through as an uprising model were not being financially free and this is still an obstacle I’m still overcoming. Trying to persuade some family members that this career isn’t at all negative unless you don’t know what you’re doing. Meaning it’s ok to step out of your comfort zone at a young age you don’t have to be 20+ living on your own, etc. to do some of the modeling that is required or that you choose to do. Other than that the road to my destiny is pretty smooth!
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am an aspiring model/actress in the Dallas, TX area I specialize in Editorial, Commercial, fashion, print, promotional, and fitness modeling. I am most known for my spontaneous and optimistic energy and for uplifting others, being very helpful, and social also full of positivity and smiles! I am most proud of my accomplishments so far as a model I feel as though I have experienced more than most local upcoming models as far as fashion shows and photoshoots.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
One thing I love about Dallas is the hidden Art that’s within it, it has so much hidden talent more than most cities In my opinion and the people here are so down to earth and helpful for the most part! I’ve worked with plenty of generous people that want nothing but the best for me and my business and I feel like without their support, I wouldn’t be where I am now. One thing about Dallas I can say I dislike is the trauma that some of our communities put upon each other, I just wish we all could come together and cherish each other instead of inflicting violence on one another.
