So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I love flowers since I can remember. I have always enjoyed working with flowers. I started doing flower arrangements to decorate my house and family’s special occasions. I studied business administration, and while I was studying my career, I took several flower design courses with the objective of someday have a flower shop. One day a close friend of mine, who was already in the flower business, convinced me to start my own flower business but targeting the wedding industry. She was kind enough to teach me everything about the wedding flower business. Until one day, she told me that it was the time to fly alone, and so I did. In the beginning, I tried to do everything myself. I used to manage the social networks, meet with brides, send proposals, and do the set-ups, and so on. The list of tasks to run a business is endless. therefore, I started hiring the right people for each area. I started to make strategic alliances with the photographers and venues to have the best content.I hired a community manager to take care of the social networks, and florists to help me with the arrangements and set-ups, so everything started to flow. I started to have more availability to meet with brides and focus entirely on what they want for their floral arrangements. Lilies is growing thanks to the amazing team we have gathered. As a team, our purpose is to bring our brides an amazing floral experience.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There are no easy beginnings. It has been very difficult to start a new business considering that one year has passed since my family and I moved to the United States. We are still trying to cope with the feelings that come from start a new life in a different country. Despite all that, I decided to go for it. I strongly believe that happiness is a decision, so I decided to start doing what makes me happy, and that is working with flowers. It has been a struggle, that’s for sure. The most difficult part has been the language. Most of my customers are English Spoken. I was terrified at first, but I’ve managed to make myself understood. Start a new business is never an easy task, but with passion and motivation, all the obstacles can be overcome.
There is nothing I would’ve done differently. Experience and success come from hits and misses. I live one day at a time. Trying my best to have no regrets. God is the owner of my life, and his times are perfect.
Lilies Floral Design – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Lilies Floral Design is a company that specialized in wedding flower arrangements. As a company, we have gathered a great team of professionals. Our goal is to understand our customer’s needs, how they have foreseen their arrangements and deliver accurately. We are known for being carry. We do really care about our customer’s satisfaction. We are willing to do anything no matter the cost to make our customers happy and thrill about their flowers. What makes us most proud as a company are the reviews of our customers. There is no better reward as a good review. Following the feedback from our customers, what sets us apart from others is that we are fast when it comes to answering our customer’s inquiries, we are always available no matter the time or the day, and we put all our effort to work within our customers budget.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
My definition of success is the accomplishment of the goals one set. the keys to achieving the success I’m looking for are; fulfilling the needs of our customers, keep innovating, and have a motivated working team. This is the way to have a profitable business.
