Today we’d like to introduce you to Mara Pinney.
In high school, Mara started modeling and had to learn at a young age how to keep her body healthy. She worked with well-known trainers, dietitians and Brazilian body sculpting experts to meet the high demands of modeling.
After high school, Pinney, moved to Milan to study accounting. While in Italy she started having trouble with her skin. She met an aesthetician who taught her how to naturally transform her skin without using harsh medications. From her experiences, she became passionate about skin and body health and went on to receive her accreditations in aesthetics and laser treatments where she worked in medical spas in Milan, London and Dubai.
In 2017, bringing to Dallas a decade of experience in the beauty, spa, and fashion industry, Mara, collaborated with the national spa division, spa810. In 2019, Mara decided to expand her treatment offering and start Mara’s Med Spa to create a place where men and women can find answers to all of their skin and body concerns.
Has it been a smooth road?
Owning your own business always has twists and turns. The hardest thing I have had to face is educating patients on why certain procedures cost what they do. There are a lot of bargain treatments out there with Groupon and other deal sites deeply discounting treatments. These deals are usually done by people without proper training and who are not following the proper protocols. We see this daily with Botox and Dysport injections being overly diluted. A diluted solution is more likely to migrate into other muscle areas and cause problems like a droopy eyelid, double vision or a droopy lip.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Mara’s Med Spa story. Tell us more about the business.
A native of Brazil, Pinney combines Brazilian disciplines, time-honored methodologies and cutting-edge technology to address her client’s skin and body concerns and to provide real, long-lasting results.
The spa’s experienced team specializes in Pinney’s unique take on 360-degree body contouring, which combines a multi-treatment procedure including CoolSculpting to remove fat, Venus to tighten the skin and reduce cellulite in hard to target areas and now CoolTone to add muscle. Among the other services offered are PRP therapy for hair and skin restoration, Botox and fillers, body contouring, laser treatments and laser hair removal. Our men-centric services include hair restoration, GAINSWave and CoolSculpting to reduce love handles and “dad bod.”
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Over the next 5 to 10 years we will see more advanced treatments that can change or correct any imperfections faster with less downtime. We are already seeing huge success with PRP and Stem Cells, which will be mainstream in ten years.
