Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamie Jordan.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Jamie. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
The youngest child of Rev. Dr. James & Gail Vanison, I was blessed to have grown up in a traditional home! I fell in love with fitness and nutrition at a young age due to me witnessing majority of my family being diagnosed with self-inflicted diseases, such as high blood pressure, diabetes and heart disease. I knew I didn’t want to personally fight any of these battles, yet I found myself going down the same path! After graduating from college in 2006, I moved back to Dallas as a Domestic Violence survivor, a single mother at the age of 23, depressed and weighing over 250lbs! I was at the peak of my unhealthiest season in my life! I was determined to fight for my life! I began fighting back by attending church weekly and meeting with my psychiatrist. I knew if I could get my spirituality and mental state back on track everything else would fall into place…and it did! I lost over 80lbs with proper exercise and nutrition. I married the love of my life Rev. H. Rick Jordan and now we have the joy of raising (3) beautiful children together. Zion (12), Moriah (4) and Hannah (1)! In 2015 after the birth of my daughter Moriah, I decided to walk away from being a Registered Respiratory Therapist to become a stay at home mom and focus on helping others reclaim their lives back through affordable personal training and nutritional plans, mentoring young single mothers, encouraging domestic violence survivors, and even sharing the love of Christ in the Juvenile Detention System! I know if the Lord did it for me, SURELY he will do it for others!
Has it been a smooth road?
No, it was definitely not a smooth road! I had to tackle depression, obesity and losing friends. My advice for other young women is to;
1) Run YOUR race (your time WILL come)
2) Find out who you really are (spend time in prayer and meditation)
3) Keep a positive attitude (Most of the time you have to encourage YOURSELF)
4) Guard your heart/peace (everyone is not meant to be in your life or inner circle)
5) SMILE!!!! Life gets better…..
