Meet Chinue Brown of TrueD.N.A

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chinue Brown.

Chinue, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Anyone who has spent more than 30 minutes with me, learns very quickly that I live OUT LOUD… unapologetically. When circumstances arise where I can’t be my long term, I am quickly developing my exit strategy. This is how TrueDNA was started. Like many people, we are all trying to define our purpose, identify our passions and create or re-create the best version of ourselves. After reflecting in hope to identify what lights a fire underneath me, I realized I always found myself encouraging others to be themselves, being asked to host workshops speaking about being comfortable with breaking tradition and walking in who you are and not what others want you to be.

TrueDNA was formed because I realized my purpose is centered around inspiring and encouraging men and women to answer to themselves because only you can live your life.

Since the launch of TrueDNA in 2019, I have created a monthly women’s brunch called Memories&Mimosas built to create a community of diverse yet like-minded women, hosted a mental health and vision workshop centered around being the best version of yourself before you can accomplish your goals and booked a few workshops and speaking engagements centered around the challenges of being true to you later in 2020.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I was my biggest obstacle. When I first had the idea of TrueD.N.A., I wasn’t sure it would work, wasn’t sure if people would identify with my message or if people would be willing to listen to me! After speaking with my mentor and the encouragement from my sister’s best friend, I took the leap and had faith in myself! I realized how can I say my purpose is to encourage and inspire people and if I didn’t wholeheartedly believe in myself. So, I put together my business plan and launched TrueD.N.A. to the world. Ever since the response and growth have been amazing.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the TrueD.N.A story. Tell us more about your work.
TrueD.N.A (define.new.altitudes) is a platform created in to INSPIRE.EMPOWER.INFLUENCE. women and men alike to be OUT LOUD about who they are. Often times we find ourselves trying to please others, fit into social norms, friend groups and even our FAMILIES standards of “acceptable”. When we look up (or within), we realize we are UNFULFILLED, IRRITATED, & DISAPPOINTED.

Take a step back and DEFINE who you are. It may have never been done before, against tradition, culturally frowned upon, “weird”… but it’s you. When you are being true you take yourself to NEW ALTITUDES. Living out loud may look introverted, edgy, loud, laid back and sometimes a combination of all those depending on how the wind blows… regardless, I want to encourage you to live OUTLOUD in your truth! It’s not always easy, but its LIBERATING.

We specialize in hosting fun and powerful workshops, events and brunches centered around topics such as challenges around being authentic, breaking family traditions, mental generational habits, pleasing others, protecting your peace, and more.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I have to dedicate TrueD.N.A. to my family. They always encouraged me to be myself no matter how different or how much I stood out in the crowd. Carry yourself with excellence; but, you can’t be excellent if you are trying to be and please someone else.
