Meet Nick and Erin Allen of Nick Allen Photography in Flower Mound

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nick and Erin Allen.

Nick and Erin, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
We are a husband and wife team and we’ve operated our business, Nick Allen Photography, for the past 12 years. We had a portrait studio in our hometown in Wyoming for the past ten and felt like it was time for a change, so Flower Mound became our new home June of 2019.

Nick is an extremely talented photographer, I consider him a “portrait artist”. He’s perfected a specific type of style that sets us apart from all of the other photographers out there and when you see one of his images you’ll say, “That’s a Nick Allen image.” We specialize in family and senior portraits, as well as commercial, product and food photography. We love to serve our clients and give them the best experience possible! We do this by getting to know them on a personal level, especially with our high school seniors. We love to incorporate things they have a passion for into their portraits, such as sports, religion, hobbies, etc.

Nick and I also love working with charities. Helping and serving people is something that God has put in our hearts and we do this through our business. In the past five years, we’ve been able to raise up to $60,000 for various charities throughout Wyoming and are hoping to do even more in Texas!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I wish it has been a smooth road! Haha! Being a business owner has its ups and downs. Just when you think things are going well, something happens to throw it off track. Moving to Texas and having to start our business all over again has been difficult. We’re having to build up our clientele all over again, and so that involves A LOT of networking meetings, chamber meetings, social media and so on. People ask us, “Why did you move to Flower Mound?” Well, we are Christians and saw the Lord closing doors in Wyoming so we were still and listened for what he had planned next for us. We never thought we would move but couldn’t deny the doors he was opening for us to move to Texas. So here we are!

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Nick Allen Photography story. Tell us more about the business.
Nick has been doing photography for 18 years. He started in high school and got a scholarship to a community college to attend their photography program. He’s so much more than a photographer, he is a true portrait artist. We specialize in family and senior portraits, but since we’ve been to Texas, we’ve done quite a bit of commercial work as well, along with car photography. We are known for our visually striking images. We’ve had many people say, “That looks like a painting, not a photograph.” Nick is extremely talented and has an amazing artistic eye.

Nick also finds great joy in taking landscape photographs.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t believe bad or good luck is real. Life and business is based on the choices we make along the way, it’s in our attitudes and how we react to certain situations. It’s all about perspective in my opinion.
