Meet Tamarah Wild

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tamarah Wild.

Tamarah, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
A dog sitting job fell in my lap in 2013. At the time, I was in retail management and the side job meshed well. Over the next couple of years without trying I gathered more and more dog clients, many of whom were elderly and suffering from various ailments. I wanted to be able to help these dogs that I’d grown to love. I researched canine massage schools and went to Ohio for my training and certification at Brandenburg Massage Therapy.

I continued with pet sitting, but my passion became canine massage. It is absolutely fulfilling to be able to relieve the pain of an old dog with arthritis or a dog with cancer suffering from pains after chemo. It’s so fortifying to be able to help speed the recovery of a dog after injury or surgery. I have sporting clients– agility dogs, hunting dogs, even dogs that have strenuous weekends of hiking that benefit from massage.

After being asked about Reiki, I decided to continue my studies and become a certified Reiki practitioner. I want to add any skill to my “tool box” that will help dogs physically, mentally and emotionally.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
When I left my retail job in 2018 to work with dogs full time, everything felt perfect. I was busier than ever, had dozens of amazing dogs in my care, was building a strong reputation in the community.

And then I experienced the death of a dog I’d taken care of for years. My first of several such losses that would happen in the following months. I hadn’t anticipated that that was bound to happen when a large part of my clientele was elderly or ill. Losing them is the hardest part of the job.

But giving end of life Reiki and massage is an honor and it’s one of the things most others in my field don’t do.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I’m a canine Reiki practitioner and massage therapist, certified in pet first aid specializing in end of life care and transition.

I’m known for being 100% committed to the care and well being of my.clients. I’m proud to have received a D Magazine award for 2018 and a Yelp award for 2019.

I think my end of life care sets me apart.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My plan for 2020 is to extend my Reiki and massage services to the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex. My focus is elderly, ill and sporting dogs.

Additionally, I am reaching out to donate my time to the police K-9 unit, the comfort dogs that travel to locations where something devastating has happened, and to elderly rescues.
