Meet Rose Braziel of Hope for Kids Foundation in Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rose Braziel.

Rose , let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I grew up in a household of 12 people, including my parents. Growing up we didn’t have much financially, but we were taught love, respect and kindness and I can personally remember it having an effect on how much effort and influence my teachers would invest in encouraging me I had the capabilities of becoming or doing anything with my life. Due to that, it made me start paying more attention to others that wasn’t treated with kindness.

I carried those same feeling with me into junior high school but, instead of living in hurt or abandonment I chose to try to make sure everyone was treated with kindness because I knew what it felt like to be looked over or not recognized.

I was that way in high school, then eventually that passion would follow my me into college and adulthood. As a young adult, I would research and obtain resources that I thought would help others like myself to better themselves. I made it my duty to volunteer my time whenever I could to non-profits to help as many people I could.
Eventually, I got married and had my own family, so my time was very occupied with taking care of my family. In 2007 I had a stroke; I was told by doctors that I probably would never walk the same. As a result, I couldn’t go back to my job and that affected us financially, but I also damaged my spirit. During that time, I began to reflect on my life. I had to except I will never be the same, but with God and the support of my husband I chose to exercise and gained my strength back. I decided to become a child advocate for CASA. I would later become a volunteer with the Dallas Mayor “Back to School Event” where I’m able to help children of all ages and ethnicities with school supplies. There I’m able to get more resources to help others. I have a file cabinet in my home. Many call me for resources all the time. lol I have been volunteering with the back to school event going on seven years now. Five years ago, I had another stoke which affected my speech. When speaking I know what I want to say but sometimes can’t find my words, but because I understand how brain transmitters work, I continue to improve. I eventually decided to start my own nonprofit organization. My nonprofit organization, Hope for Kids Foundation is to inspire today’s kids to be tomorrow’s leaders. Hope for kids Foundation aspires to develop and provide kids with the resources to be successful leaders in their community

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
t has been very challenging for me, it always easy to help others but when it comes to doing it for yourself you often face fear of not knowing what to do to start. My son knew I wanted to start my own nonprofit for a long time so he sold me about Legal Aide of Fort Worth l got in contact with them explained what I wanted to do and they assisted me in understanding everything I needed to do for nonprofit.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Hope for Kids Foundation – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
