Today we’d like to introduce you to Tracey Albert.
Tracey, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’ve always planned events for school & corporate functions, but it wasn’t until my wedding day fiasco that I took an interest. My husband & I invested quite a bit of money into a planner since I’d never been married before & wanted to make sure everything was perfect. Well, needless to say, THAT wasn’t the case so. My bridesmaids & I planned as much as knew to plan. Everyone thought it was beautiful but WE knew the craziness behind the scenes🤦🏽♀️.
It wasn’t until a colleague asked for my assistance in planning her special day, that I began to develop a real love for making sure every detail was in place, the bridal party entered on que & that the couple honestly felt like their day was the best day of their lives.
A few years later, I enrolled in Lovegevity’s Wedding Planning Institute and received my Certified Wedding & Event Professional credentials (CWEP). Since receiving my first certification in 2013, I have planned a zillion weddings, corporate AND university events, updated my skills by being taught by celebrity wedding planner extraordinaire, Kathy Romero of Kathy Romero Weddings & Celebrations (KR | Collective 2019), one on one coaching by Sasha Souza of Sasha Souza Events & recently updated my certification with The Bridal Society.
Working in corporate for so many years, I acquired vital time management, research and problem-solving skills. My role as an Office Manager for a creative college, required immense organizational skills, attention to detail and an ability to prioritize while working under pressure – all elements I’ve most definitely employed as a wedding planner.
After being laid off from my secure job of 13yrs. in 2018, having faith in God & with my husband’s blessing, I relaunched my business FULL TIME! I decided that if I was going to embark on a new career in wedding planning then I wanted to do so correctly and professionally. I hired THE greatest business coach ever, Kae Whitaker, who pushed, drilled, cheered, prayed, and everything in between to ensure I was on the right track into developing a rock-solid business.
With God, the ladies I’ve mentioned above, along with about a dozen or so more pouring into me spiritually, motivating, and just genuinely checking to make sure I didn’t burn out, I feel that not only do I owe it to myself to become successful but also to those that have and are paving the way for me to reach levels I’d never even imagined.
Has it been a smooth road?
Smooth ride? Heck no! I’d come across a few naysayers that, I hate to admit it, but made me doubt not only my talent but my worth. I’d been asked, “oh that’s an actual career?” Or even better, “you think you’ll get paid to do your little “hobby”?
Hmph, determined to make my mark & show them and all the others that doubted me, that THIS was by far a “little hobby”. The journey of entrepreneurship is NOT easy or glamorous BUT, it is rewarding.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
My company has evolved to become, Tracey Albert Events, LLC. where we create, plan, design & execute luxury weddings & events of our client’s dreams!

What sets me apart from others is that I specialize in groom planning. Yep, it’s a thing. GROOM’D was developed to incorporate intentional planning, pampering & celebratory experiences which were traditionally reserved by brides and adopt those same sentiments for our Grooms and their groomsmen.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I honestly feel anyone with a passion to plan events can do so anywhere! My advice to ANYONE pursuing this entrepreneur lifestyle should go after whatever it is they want to do, no matter what. Over are the days of thinking, “I don’t know how” because you do. You WILL figure it out.
Gone are the days of thinking, “No one will help me”. Have you SEEN all the entrepreneurs out here sharing their failures and best practices so that you don’t make the same mistakes?
