Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtney Brogdon.
Courtney, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Hey everyone! My name is Courtney and I own Courtney Brogdon Photography. I started my business in 2015 after I finally took the jump to turn my passion into a career. I am 24, a mother and girlfriend. My world revolves around my little family and we just moved to Fort Worth at the end of 2019. Texas has been wonderful!
I was raised wandering the Guadalupe Mountains and you could always catch me with a camera or admiring the beautiful sunsets. Lifting others and being kind is something that is always very important to me and something I’m passionate about.
Capturing memories for my clients is something I actually never imagined doing and it truly was a missing piece in my heart. I get lost in the moment in my sessions; it’s like nothing else in the world is going on — just your sweet family and I. I’m so thankful I am able to be a photographer and meet so many amazing people. My clients always become friends and a huge goal in my session experience is for the dads to say, “that wasn’t bad.” I want the whole family to be excited for their session, not stressed or dreading the evening.
I always tell my clients to prepare to have fun and be themselves! I would love to meet more people here, so please email me if you would like to book a session. It will be a great time!
Has it been a smooth road?
It took me a while to get my business going and steady in my hometown, however, once I did — I had clients coming in without having to market heavily. Most of my clients were from word of mouth which was amazing!!
Moving seven hours away from my hometown to a place where I know only a handful of people, I have to say is my biggest obstacle. Growing your business almost from the ground up again is pretty tough, however I am determined to become a well-known photographer in my area. I have major goals for this year, and I look forward to looking back on them in 2021.
Please tell us more about your work. What do you do? What do you specialize in? What sets you apart from competition?
I specialize in family photography. It truly is my passion because I love capturing moments for moms and dads. Moments that are special to them. Little quirks of their kiddos. I’m most proud of the work I create when I get an email response saying how much my client loves their images. I’m proud that I am able to show off their personalities. I am proud to know these amazing people and capture them authentically.
I like to think that my style sets me apart from others because instead of focusing on everyone awkwardly smiling at the camera, I focus on capture personalities. I capture their kiddos true laughter and their true love for each other. My biggest goal is for everyone to feel something when they see one of my images. Photography is a keepsake and will give you the gift of memories.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
This industry is filled with so many amazing people. From hobbyists, beginners, to highly profitable photography businesses. The different aspects of each one is truly amazing. Coming from the complete beginner side, I know what it’s like to start new. It’s intimidating seeing all of the amazing photographers out there. It’s also completely breathtaking to see their work.
