Meet Michael Druck

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Druck.

Michael, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I interned at a boutique talent agency while a theater major in college. I enjoyed the biz side of Show Biz. Representing talent was a nice challenge to learn the ins and outs. After a few years, I segued into producing and promoting feature and short subject films and festivals. The whole time regional casting directors occasionally asked me for referrals on actors and talent and actors were always asking which agencies to submit to and how to break into the biz. After nearly a year in the New York market, I found myself in Texas. From there, I noticed a big need for casting services for mid-low budget films. In 2012 I founded Michael Druck Casting. We slowly grew working on a few national commercials in conjunction with a few prominent casting companies and also provided casting services for such directors as Bryan Poyser, Emily Hagins, and Burt Gordon, to name a few.

Over the next few years, we acquired many commercial clients throughout the state. We then expanded our services as part of the casting team in Los Angeles for the casting of Season 4 of Showtime’s THE AFFAIR. Ever since then, we have been continuing to offer principals and extras casting services for film, television, commercial, print, and new media coast to coast. Calling Austin, Dallas, LA, and New York are main hubs. We just celebrated our seventh year casting and over fifteen years in the Texas market as a whole.

Has it been a smooth road?
It is feast or famine. I had to understand that sometimes when the phone doesn’t ring, it is not personal. You have to take the temp of the industry around you and continue to do your best work and let others know you are available for work.

Please tell us about your work.
Principals, Extras, and Real People Casting for Film, Television, Commercial, Print, and New Media on all three coasts East, West, and in Texas, the third coast!

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I hope we continue to get more work. I know our incentives are not as competitive as our neighboring states, but I hope it only grows.
