Today we’d like to introduce you to Karona Wilson.
Karona, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I left my corporate salon job and started my own successful salon in St. Louis, MO. The idea was and still is to create a beautiful experience while styling my client’s hair. So I decided to enroll in classes to enhance my gift. I read material outside of the beauty industry to enhance my people skills, attended leadership classes on customer service and gained a better understanding of the importance of servitude.
I’ve been in the beauty industry nearly 21 years. In May 2019, I relocated from St. Louis, MO. to Dallas, TX. and I took a leap of faith and started my business with no clients and no immediate family. My belief in growing and expanding my capacity to do and be more has helped me stand firm on my decision.
I’ve been extremely blessed to serve women across the world with my gift of creating but also inspiring them with my story. In 2016, I self-published my first book entitled, “There’s More In You,” available on Amazon.com
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road but it’s been a journey of growth and learning. I’ve had struggles of listening to other people’s opinions about my choices. Through my faith, I was able to push past the negativity and hold on to my purpose. Living in a new city and adjusting to my new normal is still a challenge. However, with grit and determination, I’ve been able to experience a significant transformation on my journey that I would love to share with others.
Kaye Wilson Hair – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Kaye Wilson Hair, I specialize in creative hair coloring and a healthy hair journey. I am best known for efficiency and great quality of work. I am most proud of my hunger towards growth in my profession and personal life. What sets me apart from other stylists is that I am unapologetically “Me.” It allows me to provide a one-on-one experience that not only leaves my clients satisfied but also leaves them inspired.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I believe it means different things to different people. Success to me is generating memories and enjoying it with the ones you love. Also, it is when you have learned from your mistakes and continue to press forward. Lastly, creating a business in a healthy environment for customers to measure.
