Today we’d like to introduce you to Sara Fay Egan.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Sara. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I am originally from Memphis, Tennessee and attended the University of Mississippi. After college, I moved to Dallas, where I worked for Todd Events as the Director of Weddings for over eight years. I opened Jackson Durham Floral and Event Design in Dallas in 20012. In 2018, I sold my ownership in Jackson Durham to focus on Sara Fay Egan Events where we design and coordinate a limited number of weddings a year which are mostly destination. We have planned and designed weddings all over the country and beyond including many destinations in California, Colorado, Maine, South Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Wisconsin, Rhode Island, New York, Nevada, Oklahoma, Texas, Missouri, North Carolina, West Virginia, Mexico, the Bahamas, Italy and more.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
My biggest struggle was learning to say no. I love helping clients bring their vision to life for their event which is inherently pleasing them. I used of have events every week and weddings every single weekend, because we said yes to everything. I have learned to focus on fewer weddings which has been so wonderful for me. It is better for myself and for the client that I can really focus on each and every detail and approach each project with a fresh vision and passion.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
We specialize in wedding design and coordination. We truly take a hands-on approach and believe no event is the same in how it should be managed. Each client is different in how they want to work and we are flexible to work in a way that is best for each project. We approach the vendor selection and every decision this way as well. One vendor or idea may be perfect for one client but not another. This truly allows us to customize each event. We like to really get to know our clients by spending time together.
Learning what their favorite vacations have been or favorite restaurants are. How they like to spend their time and where they like to shop. All of these things paint the story of their life which will inherently help us to tell the story of their wedding. So many brides feel stressed by looking at Pinterest or Instagram. We love it when we look at neither and just start with the couple themselves. These weddings are our favorite to design so every detail can perfectly fit their personality.
What were you like growing up?
I was always a planner. I was always planning the high school formals and in college was the social chair of my sorority. I had no idea when I was booking a tent, generator and band for our sorority formal that I could turn this into a career one day. At that time, I just enjoyed doing it! I feel very fortunate that I can do what I love every day and have been able to turn this into a career.
