Today we’d like to introduce you to Reggie Johnson.
Reggie, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My name is Reggie Johnson aka @RJCREATE81. I was born in Dallas and raised in the Oak Cliff area. I been drawing probably since I was little kid but started painting in 2011. Every since 2011, I been painting my artistic views on all types of surfaces. I have done several art shows in the DFW area and Houston too. While participating in these art shows, I started creating a little buzz with a little red sticker I created. The sticker has the words “Create Art And Chill.” With the success of the sticker I started receiving more interest from local people and social media. I have also done painting with a twist type of events for youth groups and new hire orientation.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Through my artistic journey, the road hasn’t been a smooth one. I have had some up and down moments. In the beginning, I had the fear of entering shows because I didn’t know if my art was good enough to be in these shows. I had some fellow artistic friends who motivated me to help make that leap of faith and it was worth it. Everybody see art from a different point of view. So for the new artist, don’t be discouraged about sales or your quality of work.

@RJCREATE81 is my artist’s name and brand. I create art with all types of media on all types of surfaces. The brand has made my artistic journey one of the best experiences of my life. My work has created so many exciting moments for customers who have viewed or purchased my work. What makes me unique is that my work is different. I don’t have a set style. I just paint the world!!!!
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I been lucky because I have a strong support system around me. They give me advice that keeps me motivated and help me develop my brand even more.
