Life and Work with Emily Gonzalez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Gonzalez.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Emily. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started in high school my junior year with a few clients. Back then, I practiced everything within the beauty field where I discovered my passion for hairstyling to the point of competition for my school. Once I graduated and got my license, I continued working with other hair stylists and gained more knowledge and creativity within hairstyling. Once social media became a popular platform for promoting your work I decided to start focusing on my Instagram page which has grown my client base to what it is today.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been challenging indeed being a mom of three has definitely set me back at times. Although “the struggle has been real”, as many say everything you set your mind to can be achieved. The sky is the limit!. Not only is this my passion but I work hard everyday to make sure my kids have everything they need. I definitely won’t stop working hard even if I have to do it ten times harder than others. The only advice I can give is do what you love and love what you do and you won’t work a day in your life.

Please tell us about Emily Hairstyles.
I love doing updos and taking on challenges to create new looks and especially being part of special moments in my client’s life’s that will be with them forever. My passion for hairstyling definitely sets me apart! I love perfecting every detail that goes into an updo making it come to life!

Do you think there are structural or other barriers impeding the emergence of more female leaders?
I believe we are the reasons we set ourselves back with doubting ourselves and not being to see the potential in ourselves.
