Thanks for sharing your story with us Courtney. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Everything started the day I birthed my daughter. She woke something up inside of me that I never knew I had. She pushed me to be more and to want more. I never had dreams of becoming my own boss until I had her. I was content and comfortable with working for someone else. Once I had her, I knew I didn’t want to miss a beat. I knew I would have to shift my mindset if I wanted to work myself. This is where my business idea all started.
I worked with children on the Autism spectrum for ten years before quitting my job. After finally building up the confidence and shifting my mindset, I was able to go after my new found dreams of becoming my own boss. Helping and inspiring others has always been a passion of mine so I knew that I wanted to create something that would do this.
Also, I am a woman who wears many hats as a wife, mother, friend ect.. Us women sometimes tend to lose ourselves taking care of everyone else but ourselves so I wanted to make sure that I created something that inspired women through fashion and beauty so that we could confidently go after our dreams. When you look good you feel good. Helping others find their light and looking good while doing so inspired Mindset Collection.
With everything going on in this world, being constantly reminded that time waits for no one is what inspired me to invest my time into learning about watches. I wanted people to be reminded how precious time is and to start spending it wisely. I wanted people to realize that now is the time to start following their dreams. This is how I got started creating a brand around these products.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There has definitely been a couple of struggles, but for the most part, everything has worked itself out and has been pretty smooth. My business is all about motivating and inspiring others to recognize the power of their mindset so that that can create the life they want. I’ve always been about helping others find their light, so that side came easy. It was the business side of things that I had to learn since I’ve never done this before. Everything happened so quick and I didn’t have a huge business fund saved up, so this was definitely one of the struggles. Figuring out how to start a business on a budget. It’s hard, but it’s possible if you do your research.
Please tell us about Mindset Collection.
My business is a women’s watch line. Through fashion and beauty, it inspires women to recognize the power of their mindset and to follow their dreams. As they slay their way to the top, it reminds women that they have the power to create whatever life they want. Whether that be working for themselves or climbing the corporate ladder, they have the power and their dreams are achievable.
What sets us apart is that my watch line will constantly give women a daily reminder when they look at their watch. It reminds them to stay focused, check their mindset and to keep pushing no matter what. If you want to change your life, you have to change your mindset.
I’m really proud because I wanted my watches to give women that reminder rather than just seeing a random name or word when they looked down. I wanted it to mean something.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had to start over, one of the things I would have done differently was to save up a bigger business fund. I was so eager to get started. I literally started with what I had, which is why I only have one watch right now. I hope to continue to grow and eventually add more to the collection.
