Meet Richard Pollak of Rainbow Entertainment

Today we’d like to introduce you to Richard Pollak.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Richard. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
After an illustrious career in Marketing for Burger King Corp where I was responsible for a $5 million advertising budget for 250 Restaurants in 8 states I was approached by the Funnybone Comedy Club to be a managing partner. They needed an aggressive Marketing Partner after the infamous Hollywood Improv opened less than a mile away. We went on to own 22 Comedy Clubs throughout the Midwest and gave starts to famous Comedians like Jeff Foxworthy, David Spade and Rosanne Barr. As the comedy business grew and moved onto Hollywood, I was approached by the Pepsi Kidaround Festival to book 5 stages of Kids Entertainment. I did not have any children so I Googled the yellow pages for Kids Entertainers. It led to starting Rainbow Entertainment which focused on Children’s and Comedy Entertainers. Rainbow quickly expanded to book Bands, Ethnical performance groups , National headliners and motivational speakers. Rainbow became a full service Entertainment Talent agency producing Special Events with Production,Services, Products and Rentals. Over the last 18 years, Rainbow Entertainment has produced over $ 1 million Dollars in Entertainment at the Great State Fair of Texas, sent a European Dance troop over 1000 miles to perform and produced City Sponsored Festivals with over 250,000 attendees. As a former College Ice Hockey Player who lead the NCAA Division 111 in scoring at Villanova University, today, I am a part-time Sports, Dining, Entertainment and Travel writer for 5 publications. In the last 32 years, I have reported on over 3,000 sporting events, 325 Restaurant Reviews and traveled to 40 exotic destinations.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
With a degree and experience in Marketing, and Business, I had a competitive advantage over other entertainment professionals who were former performers tired of the road. I was the very first entertainment agency to have a website. I used to be the very first entertainment agency listed in every category on the Internet for Dallas Entertainment I have written articles in 10 National industry Magazines and spoken at over 13 Industry Seminars. Today, keeping up with every changing Technology is a challenge while dealing with a new generation of youthful uninformed industry wanna-bees is exhausting.
