Today we’d like to introduce you to Faizel Ismail.
Faizel, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am a wildlife photographer, writer, conservationist and international safari guide. Growing up in Africa allowed me the good fortune to develop a deep love, understanding and connection to our natural world. A love that continues to grow to this very day. It is through my photography and writing that I seek to share my many adventures with my audience and tell stories that connect them to the incredible beauty of our planet’s last remaining wildernesses, giving them a glimpse into the lives of the creatures that call these great wildernesses home. I am also lucky enough to run an international safari company (Enzuri Safaris) with my wife, Jessica. Enzuri Safaris has allowed us a platform to create bespoke guided safaris and adventures for our guests who travel with us to Africa, India and destinations in North America. The truth is that we never want to stop exploring because we simply love wildlife, nature, traveling and adventure, but even more so, we love sharing these incredible moments with others.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like any journey worth embarking on, my journey as a wildlife photographer, conservationist and international safari guide has not been easy or straight forward, but it has been one of my greatest achievements. The struggles? There were/are many, but let’s say, it’s not a simple task guiding people on adventures in faraway lands that at times push people beyond their comfort zones. However, even in the aforementioned “struggle,” there is a great reward, especially when you are there to witness transformation in people, a transformation that manifests beyond the comfort zone.

Enzuri – Derived from the Swahili word meaning “beautiful”, and “safari” which at its core means “journey”, forms the ethos behind what we aim to deliver at Enzuri Safaris… Bespoke, intimate, beautiful journeys to our planet’s most incredible wild spaces. Enzuri started with the simple dream of giving people the opportunity to reconnect with our planet’s incredible wild spaces and cultures so that they could experience something beautiful and find the very thing that makes them feel alive.
As this dream evolved, so did we, and today Enzuri is a specialist boutique safari and travel company with over 15 years of experience in safaris, adventure travel, international travel, hospitality and wildlife photography. It is our experience, coupled with our love for wildlife and travel, that allows us to deliver the quintessential safari and travel experience.
Our extensive experience in the safari and travel industry also allows us to create unique adventures catered to our client’s travel needs and budget, by offering them the very best safari experiences on the planet. When our guests travel with us, they are not just traveling with a team of travel experts but also a team of wildlife photographers, experienced travelers and guides.
We currently offer bespoke, custom designed and fully guided safaris and adventures to South Africa, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Kenya, India, and North America. We will be further expanding to Patagonia, The Great Bear Rain Forest, Costa Rica.
