Meet Courtney Thompson of Reds Roadhouse in Kennedale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtney Thompson.

Courtney, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My parents own Reds Roadhouse and needed some extra help, Reds was struggling a bit and I needed to change a few things in my life. I was a stay at home mom for 6 years and had just had our second daughter the previous month. My mother and I had a new vision for Reds and we put our plan into action! Two years later Reds Roadhouse is thriving! We host anything from birthday parties, corporate events to weddings! I love my job so much and the freedom it gives me to balance being a wife, mother and director of a company.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There have been some minor struggles, but we have an amazing team and we’ve been able to easily overcome obstacles. Reds Roadhouse was open to the public as a restaurant, concert venue, banquet hall and bar. The transition was not easy and our past managers were not the best fit for Reds so there was definitely some clean up to do.

My mother and I have never been in the event industry but we have made Reds a well-oiled machine that is able to accommodate almost any event seamlessly. Over the last two years we have faced almost any issue that can pop up in our industry and we have learned how to handle them well.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Reds Roadhouse story. Tell us more about the business.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I’m not a believer in luck… I believe that the Lord blesses us, that being said I feel that God has been with us every step of the way, guiding us and leading us in the right direction. I definitely expected the transition from restaurant to event venue to be a lot more difficult than it actually has been. We have been blessed with an amazing staff that truly loves their job, we are all a big family.
