Today we’d like to introduce you to Noah Bell.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Noah. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ve been writing music for almost as long as I can remember. It’s always been my passion. I did choir and theatre in high school to help me get a better understanding of both performing music and appreciating music as a whole. It definitely broadened my horizons. Around the time my parents split in middle school, I decided this was what I wanted to do with my life. Nothing else would suffice. This was the only way I could get my thoughts out in a clear way. I’ve dealt with depression and anxiety issues for a large portion of my life, and I could never seem to verbalize how I felt in the right way. Music helps me with that, exponentially. About 8 months ago, I finally got the ability to record my music through connections and new friendships made through the local open mic scene. I owe big thanks to Open Eye Events, for helping me feel accepted enough to perform my music live in the first place. I had a few songs finished, and they welcomed me to go on stage when I hadn’t sang in front of people In years. That became a weekly habit for me. I used the performances to help my music grow, and make needed tweaks along the way. So, I’m grateful to them for restoring my courage. And now, I’m well on my way to making my first project! An EP called “Troubled Waters”! It’s based on me growing up and coming to terms with my newfound adult life, and struggling to find my way through it alone after a devastating break-up. Fingers crossed it’ll be finished and out before summer!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Dealing with depression and anxiety is something everyone can relate to. In my case, it really prevented me from trying anything ambitious until about a year ago. I haven’t completely overcome these issues, but I’ve learned to work through them better and try to get past them as best as I can. It’s all about keeping your head up as much as you can. I firmly believe we are the keys to our own happiness, but the journey of life is about finding how to unlock it.
Please tell us about your work.
I write, sing, and produce music. All the songs I’ve released are taken from moments in my life I felt were substantial to me. I’ve been in love and felt heartbreak. And In order to get how I feel across, I turned it into music. I may not be able to tell you how I’m feeling all that well in person, but when my music hits you’ll hopefully understand everything I felt then. I try to get my lyrics to speak to everyone the same way they feel to me. I’m proud of just getting the will to even seriously pursue music. I’ve only been releasing music for roughly eight months, and I’ve already been feeling better and seeing crazy positive results.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I want to hope my music resonates with people. It comes from a very personal place, and I think that’s what makes it relatable, ironically. Things people have deep down that they don’t know how to say, I feel like I get those thoughts across well.
