Today we’d like to introduce you to Toyin Awe.
Toyin, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Unlike many others, I did not start off as a business owner but as a healthcare worker. After working in the healthcare industry for a while, I decided to set out and be my own boss. I wanted to help solve problems in the community and noticed the shortage of venues/event centers in the area so I decided to start one.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has been quite bumpy for me. Some days it feels very rough and other days it is quite easy. Overall it has been a learning experience!
Please tell us about Grace Banquet Hall.
Grace Banquet Hall (GBH) is a community based event center that is affordable for everyone. GBH is known as the go to place for people that are planning receptions, graduation parties, sweet sixteens, etc. but who are on a budget. We are proud that we have been able to deliver our service to over 20,000 clients.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Helping my mom out at her boutique store. Through this experience, I learned about buying and selling as well as customer service (satisfaction).
