

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chander Gupta and Neeta Rani.
Husband Chander and his wife Nita came from a restaurant background. Their parents had sweet shops (Halwai Wala) back home. Some of their relatives are still in the same business, so they had the love of cooking all their life. Nita used to host large parties at home and cook everything herself. She would easily cook for 100 people sometimes. Chander’s passion for cooking emerged when they got the opportunity to take partnership in India Grill Restaurant in Arlington Highlands. Chander and Nita’s dream just came true. Even in this age of their life, they were ready to start fresh and fulfill their dream. Chander and Nita’s passion of cooking came to rescue the restaurant. They went back to recipes and gave their own touch and perfected each and every recipe. India Grill’s adventure didn’t last too long, but they were not ready to give up yet. They started fresh on their own with their daughter and son-in-law (Sam Khera) on Matlock Rd, Indian Bistro 14.
They have so much passion for their food that they would criticize their own recipe several times until they got the majority of the vote and say “YES” this is the best. They thrive for the best in food and customer service. Nita is a people person and treats people like family. When you walk in her restaurant, you are family. She feeds you like family and always remembers you. Chander and Sam cooks with the same passion and love for their customers. Each and every dish should be the best you ever had.
Has it been a smooth road?
This road hasn’t been too smooth, but they have faith that one day their new adventure (Indian Bistro 14) would be thriving as well.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Indian Bistro 14 story. Tell us more about the business.
At Indian Bistro 14, We cook with passion, love, and the love for spices. We use the best ingredients and fresh produce to create the best dishes. Our specialty is North Indian Cuisine along with street food from India i.e., Pani Puri, Sev Puri, Aloo Tikki, Samosa among others…
We take the cooking and perfect it with the right amount of spices and timing. Each spice has its own flavor and if you do not mix it well together right. One can overpower the other very easily. Cooking is science. It has to be the perfect spice and cook for perfect timing.
For Example, Masala Chai is consisted of Water, Milk, Sugar, Tea, Ginger, Green Cardamon, Black Cardamon, Fennel Seeds, Clove, Cinnamon. You can make the tea with same ingredients several different ways and get different result each time.
We are known for our flavorful food and best customer service. We are proud to share our love for food with everyone.
Where most new restaurants are moving towards fusion, we at Indian Bistro 14 love to share the traditional food that has all the spices and health benefits. Also, we have wide variety of Vegan curries. You can get the same Tikka Masala curry with vegetables and coconut cream and don’t have to compromise.
We have a small party room for upto 36 seating to host small gatherings, and we also specialize in catering any event.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
We believe that our love for traditional recipes would take us far. Traditional food has a lot of health benefits because it has all those spices where fusion lacks it.
We are looking to expand our Catering Business and offer lunch boxes for office lunches.
Pricing:
- For right now, Our Lunch Buffet is $10.99, probably lowest in DFW. Buffets gives the customer to try everything at very minimal price
- Chicken Tikka Masala $12.99 comes with complimentary Basmati Rice spiced with Cumin, Cloves, Cinnamon, Curry leaves
