Meet Adaire Byerly of Entertainment Mindframe in Plano

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adaire Byerly.

Adaire, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I originally started my path to the industry in 2005 and had officially broken into the industry in 2009, making history at the Clutt’s Agency for being the first African American model under 5’8 represented by their fashion division. They originally turned me down because I did not reach the height requirements. However, after reviewing my images that were taken by elite photographer, Aaron Fairooz, they reconsidered and signed me on my birthday.

Throughout the years, I was fortunate to be represented by and work with top-tier professionals in the industry. This led me to multiple campaigns, international magazines & my most acclaimed moment, being featured in VOGUE. Shortly thereafter, I was eligible to become a member of the Screen Actors Guild.

What many people did not realize, is that I was secretly a science fanatic. I was always reading or learning about the brain and behavior on my own time through psychoanalysis, psychology, philosophy and neuroscience. While struggling with my own highs & lows in the industry over the years, and after talking with many professionals experiencing the same, I noticed and observed unprofessional & disturbing patterns that were considered a normality in the industry.

In 2015, I decided to dive in and turn this curiosity into a mission. This transitioned me to the other side of the camera & behind the curtain to focus on an area that was widely ignored in the business, the mind. Through my research in the Fashion and Entertainment industry, I had found that we have perfected the art of communication so precisely, that we inadvertently neglected the science of it.

Through much licensing and careful groundwork, I created Entertainment Mindframe, the first company devoted to cognitive development for professionals in the Fashion and Entertainment Industry. The focus is to bridge the gap between the stability of the mind and the power of fame by utilizing modern brain and behavioral sciences and implementing communication techniques. To ensure the success of Entertainment Mindframe, my modeling career has been placed on the back burner. I am now a licensed practitioner for Neuro-Linguistic Programming and Neuroplasticity with a study of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I am also studying fundamental Neuroscience by continuing education through Harvard.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Honestly, the road became smooth when I started to walk it and not project or imagine what it might be like. Of course, there have been and will be challenges, but it is all expected when you are taking on a new venture. I come from a family of entrepreneurs, so my expectations were very grounded when I decided to fully build Entertainment Mindframe. The mind is such a powerful force that is still not entirely understood. When it comes to career-path, life & personal experiences, your mind can be your worst enemy. Neuroscience tells us that our brains are designed to take the path of least resistance, so when you are doing anything new, your brain will fire signals through your entire body, paralyzing and warning you not to move forward.

When I was working with my attorney, we found that this is not only a new concept locally, but nationally. My greatest struggle was how to make science appealing to a world that is so visual. It isn’t popular or trendy because it has never been done before in this industry, meaning there is no path to follow. The pressure of realizing I was starting a wave of something entirely new was both exciting and overwhelming. I had my doubts for years, but eventually I had to conquer them and commit to share my knowledge.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Entertainment Mindframe – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Entertainment Mindframe is focused on enhancing professionals behind the camera through brain & behavioral science. I am a Cognitive Development Trainer and Communication Strategist. Besides applying the psychological techniques through my licensing, I also consult professional psychologist and neuroscientist through the company’s research department to ensure my teachings concur with the science community. I also actively attend brain lectures to stay up to date with modern discoveries, therefore having a more concrete understanding of the brain and its functions.

Entertainment and Fashion are leading industries filled with mental and behavioral struggles that are constantly projected into the politics of the business. Many individuals view these industries as a platform to showcase talent and creativity, and in the interim, overlook the fact that these industries are actual businesses that affect our U.S. economy by billions of dollars. When we put that into perspective, we begin to understand why we should focus on the mental stability and cognitive awareness of professionals.

If we are to look at the “normal” industry landscape, the mental state of being has led to anxiety, depression and major loss of self-identity. If we are to look at the worst industry landscape, it has led to major scandals and unfortunate stories that have created emotional, physical and chemical dependencies. These dynamics have caused major brands, companies and networks to lose millions of dollars, and worse, the loss of incredibly talented people through prison, suicide and/or overdose.

We aim to identify, break-down, eliminate and rebuild neuropathways and perceptions that project into one’s career and environment, thus ultimately creating a safe and productive work-environment filled with emotionally intelligent professionals that will skillfully navigate the industry and properly conduct business.
