Today we’d like to introduce you to Madeline Woods.
Madeline, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve always been obsessed with photos and capturing memories. Even back to my high school days, I was always the one carrying around a digital camera. Fast forward to 2018 when I discovered vlogging. I loved the idea of getting fashion, lifestyle, and beauty ideas from girls I could relate to and look up to. I’ve always had a knack for putting outfits together and eyeing the season’s next trend so I started to think maybe I could be one of these girls I look up to. It took me about a year to bite the bullet and start my own YouTube channel. I started about six months ago creating Fashion Haul videos, Week in my Life Vlogs, Decorate with Me videos. I knew this was something I wanted to get serious about when my Furnished Apartment Tour video got 48,000 views. That was a surreal moment of “okay. I could make this happen.”
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I guess it depends on how you look at it, but I went into this knowing I would have to be patient. I’ve heard over and over “don’t get into YouTube if you’re in it to make quick money” and that’s definitely true. Consistency is super important and that can be a challenge when balancing a full-time job, friends, family, etc.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
My YouTube channel is a fashion, lifestyle, and beauty channel. Everything from “Spring Trend Alert” videos to “Trader Joe’s Grocery Haul.” My goal is to find those gems, sales, and must haves so other people don’t have to search as hard. I’ll do the hard work for you because I genuinely enjoy it. I’m also most proud of my honesty. I want to be a trustworthy resource so if I don’t like something, I will be straight forward and tell my audience. I’m not afraid to record those not so glamorous moments. I don’t need to always have makeup on or look perfect. I think that’s what appeals to people. Attainable inspiration
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My boyfriend, Ryne deserves so much credit. He surprised me with my first vlog camera and has been encouraging me every day since. He’s also the one behind the camera who remains calm every time I ask him to take “just a few more.” My friends and family have also been amazing. This is a hard industry to jump into and can appear strange to some. Having supportive friends and family has made all the difference.
