Today we’d like to introduce you to Jazmine Davis.
Jazmine, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Growing up I always had a natural talent at all things beauty related. Whether it be hair, makeup, nails, or DIY skin care I did it. Although these things were always fun I never considered beauty something I’d turn into a career, but more rather something I did when the opportunity arose. After turning 21 and reaching a crossroads I was torn between what I wanted to do with my life. I studied psychology in college, went through a few jobs, and randomly got into e-commerce. Needless to say I never felt complete or satisfied with what I was doing. I knew I was meant to do great things but I was lost and wasn’t sure where I wanted to take myself.
I decided to look into the beauty schools around me one day, after getting off the phone with my grandmother. She for the 100th time, tried convincing me to start beauty school. After hanging up, I had a “what’s the worst that can happen?” moment.
Long story short, from the first day I started beauty school, I INSTANTLY knew the beauty industry is where I belonged and where I’d make my mark. I slowly but surely started to build my business, feeling more and more confident in the work I did. I embraced every bit of the love, support, and encouragement I received. Numerous friends, family and clients I serviced constantly reminded me that I chose the right career, and I’d make it far. That’s all I needed to hear.
Fast forward a year later at 22, I moved from my home in the Bay Area, California to Dallas, TX. I began to grow and branch out in ways I would’ve never thought. Today I am more confident than ever despite the hardships that discouraged me.
I made a YouTube channel where I feel beautiful in front of the camera and could care less what people think, I can speak in front of crowds with grace, but most proudly I’ve built Bélier Beauty. My empire where I can share my passion, teach, bring out the fierceness in every individual, and encourage confidence.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Having a business is absolutely never a breeze. Sure, in a general sense you get things done and it’s “easy” once you get the hang of things but behind closed doors a lot goes into making your business flourish.
When I moved to Texas it was sudden and in the midst of Bèlier Beauty growing very quickly back home. It initially hit me hard having to not only loose all the clientele I built and was continuously building, but also transition and start over. In a sense i felt like I lost everything. I had to start over building clients and learning the trends here in Texas. I quickly realized what’s popular in California is completely different from what’s popular in Texas, so I had to learn the ropes all over again. I was new and didn’t have friends or know anyone to network with, so I invested money I didn’t have and so much time trying to learn what I know now and be where I’m at now. Crazy thing is, I STILL have so much learning and growing to do. It’s all trial and error.
I’ve deprived myself of sleep, over worked myself like I had not a choice in the world, and practically banged my head against the wall because I felt so deeply about the capabilities of Bèlier Beauty and the heights my business can reach.
In my mind I don’t have a choice to let up no matter how tired I am, no matter how much progress I make and sometimes I don’t even make any progress, but those things are nothing short of mandatory when you have a vision you are determined to manifest. I promised myself I would never let a headache, a sleepless night, or tear fall in vein, and I’m keeping that promise. The success of my business is more than a belief it’s a definite knowledge and with that there will be battles. All of which I will be locked and loaded for.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I specialize in Swarovski Tooth Gems and bring in most of my clients for that service. Nonetheless, what Bèlier Beauty has to offer most definitely doesn’t stop there. Along with doing tooth gems I also offer a range of other services including make up, tooth gem technician training where I teach others how to start earning money doing tooth gems, and I’m excited to announce I will be adding both microblading and lashes to my list of services this summer.
Outside of the beauty services I offer I sell a range of items from luxury cruelty free mink lashes, handmade vegan and cruelty free cosmetics, skincare products, and super cute merch all of which are on the Bèlier Beauty website.
I built Bèlier Beauty to define “beauty” and challenge societies modern-day definition. We dare to be different and encourage people from all walks of life to feel good and feel beautiful from the inside FIRST. Flaws, differences, and all.
At Belier Beauty we love, embrace, and empower! We strive to be the best and offer the best. From phenomenal service, top notch training, to high quality handmade skincare and cosmetics we want you to know we operate with YOU in mind.
The Bèlier Beauty motto “Passion you can see, feel, and show off” expresses the genuine love for the services and products I provide, and the confidence I want you to feel.
I’m proud to say I’m growing the Bèlier Beauty name to be associated with love, character, and satisfaction.
What were you like growing up?
At 18 months old I was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis. I’ve always been very social, outgoing, had a ton of friends and lived my life normally. The only difference between me and my friends was I had to take breathing treatments and medications daily, and sometimes had to do hospital stays varying 2-3 weeks at a time when I got sick. Although my CF was annoying at times I never let it define me and lived my life to the fullest! Growing up I enjoyed getting dolled up doing my make up and hair, going out with friends, and spending time with my family. I’ve loved traveling, doing miscellaneous activities, and learning new things. I’ve always been curious and eager to learn ever since I could remember. There’s always something sparking my interest but in particular I loved and still love reading, meditating, anything that has to do with food, and of course all things beauty related.
