Today we’d like to introduce you to Troy Williams.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Troy. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ve always loved real estate, even as a young boy growing up in San Diego California I’d drive by beautiful beachfront estates and wonder what the inside would look like. I moved to Dallas, Texas, in 2013 for a job transfer, all my family is from the Oak Cliff area, so I was excited to be back around family. I was thriving in corporate America, creating a quality life for myself, but my job wasn’t my passion, and that was a problem for me. I often found myself not excited to go to work. I put Real Estate in the very back of my mind simply because I didn’t know any successful Realtors; in fact, I didn’t know a single Real Estate agent. One weekend I was sitting at home watching Million Dollar Listing New York as I’ve done for so many years, and I’m watching my favorite person on the show Ryan Serhant create this awesome life for himself through Real Estate. It was like an epiphany for me at that point. I googled how to obtain a Texas Real Estate License and I found Champions School of Real Estate. Hands down the best place to study to get your license in my opinion. I booked an appointment and they walked me through the process and within a month I passed all my courses and found myself prepping for the big exam. Once I obtained my license within months, my previous manager from my last job was my first client, and my career took off from there. I got to where I am today by understanding that patients, outworking the next person, a positive mindset, surrounding yourself with people who are willing to invest in your success, time management, and customer service will take you far in Real Estate. It’s your brand as a person, and how you make people feel is what they will remember. That’s how you create a business.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Real estate is not happy hours and smooth sailing. Its hard work and long hours of doing consistent work. You truly reap the rewards of your efforts. You’re often working for the future; immediate gratification is not the play here. The struggles I’ve run into in my Real Estate career have been not initially having money saved for several months of bills. There’s no bi-weekly paycheck here you can go months without pay, it can be a terrifying thing, but it can also be your biggest motivator to succeed—even my image and how my peers viewed me. No one took me seriously as a Realtor early on and rightfully so. I didn’t know anything and haven’t been in it long enough to establish any credibility for someone to trust me with such an important transaction. I had to continuously remind everyone I knew that I’m a Realtor now. I consistently share data on social media and had phone calls, text, and emails about Real Estate. I had to build up that trust within my sphere to earn that business. I had to find the right leadership and mentors to train me the right way to hold me accountable for the goals I verbalized and written on paper for myself.
We’d love to hear more about your business.

My plan for the future is to keep helping families accomplish the “American dream,” which is homeownership and wealth-building. I want to keep growing in the DFW as a resource, someone that comes from contribution, and a trusted ally. I plan on building a business that can provide an opportunity for new agents to learn the business the right way. The better we are at our job, the better we can serve the community.
