Today we’d like to introduce you to Whitney Crawford and Susan Holcomb.
Established in 2008, Moonlight Cakes began as one woman’s love for baking. Over the past 8 years, with determination, commitment to their customers and a true passion for baking, it has evolved into a full-time business for creator and owner, Susan.
In January 2016, she retired from a lifelong profession in the medical field to open Moonlight Cakes. Over the past few years, her daughter, Whitney, has joined her in creating delicious and beautiful cakes. Whitney resigned from 9 years of teaching to devote her time to Moonlight Cakes. Together they have developed a strong customer following by creating the most delicious and moist cakes and cupcakes in the area.
Moonlight Cakes is proud to be a volunteer vendor for the Big Brothers/Big Sisters Best of Big Taste of Fort Worth for the past few years. In 2015, they were awarded “Best Dessert” and in 2016, Moonlight Cakes tied for top honors by taking home the award for “Best of Big Taste of Fort Worth”.
Due to customer requests and numerous inquiries, they have decided to make their cupcakes available on a daily basis. They have partnered together to open a gourmet cupcake and ice cream shop.
Has it been a smooth road?
Being brand new to retail, we have definitely had some ups and downs. One of our biggest struggles was being able to appropriately bake the correct number of cupcakes every morning.
Since our bakery is currently located in a different space, we have to bake our cupcakes early each morning and try to anticipate the numbers that our customers are going to want/need throughout the day. We never want to close our doors because we have sold out of all of our flavors.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Moonlight Cakes – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Our company is family owned and operated business. We have built our reputation on our customer service and through word of mouth referrals.
We are known throughout DFW for the taste and moistness of our cakes and cupcakes.
We have never advertised and have only grown by word of mouth, from our customers personal referrals.
We specialize in custom wedding cakes and use a variety of techniques such as sugar work, hand painting, buttercream and fondant designs.
