Meet Kaivan Bazleh of DJ KB Events in Little Elm

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaivan Bazleh.

Kaivan, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My interest in DJing began midway through high school. I was fascinated by DJ culture and the art of turntablism and took it upon myself to invest in a set of turntables and a mixer. I would watch videos of my heroes like DJ Q-Bert and Mix-Master Mike of the Beastie Boys and study their routines in an effort to learn their unique styles and techniques. I was self-taught and in high school I began DJing house parties as I became more confident with my craft. Once I moved to Austin to begin my bachelor’s degree, I started taking on numerous residencies on the weekends, playing for multiple clubs downtown on 6th Street and in the warehouse district. My very first residency was at the historic Maggie Mae’s on 6th and my longest running residency was a five year run performing at SpeakEasy on the Terrace 59 every Saturday. This residency gave me a lot of recognition in the Austin music scene, allowing me opportunities to perform for celebrities like Jessica Alba, Danny Trejo and Dennis Quaid. As my reputation grew, I was invited to become an instructor at the Dub Academy, a premier school for the electronic arts located in the heart of Austin.

After only a few months of teaching at the Dub Academy, I was promoted to be their lead instructor and helped them develop a majority of the curriculums that they still use to this day. I continued to work for Dub Academy for over six years hosting workshops that would bring numerous DJ legends to the city of Austin like DJ Craze, DJ Klever and Rob Swift of The X-Ecutioners. As my reputation grew, I was given many amazing opportunities to perform with many of my heroes like Z-Trip, Cut Creator, DJ Spinderella, Major Lazer and Zeds Dead and was contracted to perform for celebrities like George Strait, Haus of Gaga Fashion Director Brandon Maxwell and Troublemaker Studios. After getting married to my wife Emily and having my son, Rowan I decided to relocate to DFW in the Fall of 2017 to be closer to family and start my own event company, DJ KB Events.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Change is always a necessary part to growth. Growth never comes without change, but change is never easy. Starting my own event company was a passion of mine and I knew that DFW, being one of the most populous metropolitan areas not only in Texas but all of the Southern United States, would be the best place for me to get my start. However, this was a big gamble for me. In leaving Austin, I was leaving my comfort zone and moving to a brand new metroplex to start over. Luckily, I had some great contacts in DFW. Michael Roos of ‘True DJs of Dallas’ was a former acquaintance of mine from Austin. He helped me get my start working collaboratively with his DJ company and allowing myself to grow my own company independently in the process. He also introduced me to Dan Quinn of ‘DQB Entertainment’ and the ‘Oontz Kids DJ Academy’ who I have been working with collaboratively ever since and am currently serving as a course developer and lead instructor for the ‘Oontz Kids DJ Academy.’

So, as you know, we’re impressed with DJ KB Events – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
My company offers DJ services for events all throughout DFW and the surrounding areas. As a professional DJ with over 15 years of experience, I am able to offer a quality of performance that is second to none. I’m an open-format turntablist who specializes in cross-genre mixing and performing with any style of music. I always offer a high level of personalization to all of my clients, taking the time to get to know about them and their musical tastes. Every performance is different because every performance is catered to the unique musical preferences of my clients. I specialize in weddings, corporate events and private parties, having DJ’d hundreds of weddings and thousands of parties throughout my career. DJ KB Events has been growing fast for the last three years, and as of this year, we were recently awarded ‘Best of Weddings 2020’ by ‘The Knot’.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
In the next month, I will be launching ‘SFS DJ’ aka ‘Start From Scratch’ where I will be offering private lessons in the art of DJing and production from my home studio in Little Elm. Teaching people of all ages is a passion of mine, ever since my beginning as the lead instructor at Dub Academy. Since then, many of my students have gone on to hold their own residencies, start their own DJ companies and open for notable performers. I plan to continue my work as an instructor, sharing my knowledge and experience with anyone who is eager to learn and continuing to spread DJ culture to the next generation of aspiring DJs and producers.
