Meet Anisa Gutierrez of Fresa Thrift in Denton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anisa Gutierrez.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Fresa Thrift has been a dream in the making since I was about ten years old. Going thrifting and garage sale hunting was something I always did as a child and always thought it was the normal way to shop!

As I grew older, I collected more items others may have called it hoarding. The only intention I had was to love these items and give them a home. Now I put that emotion into action with others who feel the same way about vintage curiosities.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I would have to say that I’m definitely at the beginning of hopefully by long road down this venture. The biggest struggle I would have to say is self-doubt.

Self-doubt made me push off starting and allowing myself to do something for myself.

I am a one person business although I do have the help of my partner and family when needed. Being a one woman shop does prove difficult when brainstorming, packaging, and all of the other details.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Fresa Thrift is an online and in person shop of curated vintage finds. I collect and source a variety of vintage curiosities from fashion to home goods. Fresa Thrift doesn’t focus on one style or look, I got what you need for whoever you are and love!

As a Latina operated business, I look for creating a space for myself amongst other resellers in the DFW Community. Born and raised in Dallas, but currently residing in Denton. There are a lot of great and unique resellers in the DFW, I hope to be a part of this great community.

I’m super proud of myself for doing what I’ve wanted to do for a long time! I’m also hopeful to create a different face to vintage reselling especially while living in Denton!

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I always had an interest for collecting. My closet was filled with vintage suitcases for all the places I wasn’t going to, vintage typewriters with missing ribbon and vintage purses found at Canton Trade Days.

My mom would always say you’d never know that I’d be home because I’d be in my room all day. Well, I loved my treasures so much I couldn’t leave them!
