Today we’d like to introduce you to Vixie St. Claire.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Vixie . So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there
I’m an Okie girl by birth born in Tulsa, Oklahoma and grew up just outside of T-Town in Sapulpa. There is where I found and developed my love for dance. I began my classical training at the age of 3 and continued my studio training until age 18. After high school I attended the University of Central Oklahoma and got my BFA in performance dance. Towards the end of college I was extremely lost and unhappy with the reality that I was going to have a hard time finding work since I don’t have a traditional dancers body. I knew I loved to dance but felt like my opinions were few and far between. My last semester in college was when I found burlesque. I discovered performers of all shapes and sizes and absolutely fell in love with the body positivity I saw in the community. I saw these people who were so confident, sensual, and shined with such a bright light I just KNEW I had found my passion. I moved to Dallas January of 2019 and, even though I had just started my burlesque career, the local community welcomed me with open arms. I have met some of the most kind and caring humans through burlesque and I love calling Dallas home.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Moving to Dallas was a huge step for me! This is my first time living alone and I didn’t know a single soul when I got here. Money has been tight and my responsibilities have definitely doubled; but, I’m glad I took the leap. I’m happy I’m here and excited to see what happens on this journey.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
I am a freelance Showgirl/Burlesque entertainer. I specialize in Classic and Neo-Classic style burlesque. Im extremely proud of how much I’ve progressed in my short career. My understanding of myself and my style is constantly developing and I’m always proud to bring my special kind of flair and sensuality to the stage.
What were you like growing up?
I was always an outgoing kid! I love making friends and playing outside. Dance has always been a big part of my life even as a kid.
