Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Ellis.
Jasmine, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started my company in 2016 after I walked away from corporate America. I was miserable sitting in an office all day and I knew I had a knack for the creative. So, I convinced my parents to let me use their business platforms as guinea pigs so that I could get a lot of practice. It turns out. It was better than I thought! I started creating logos for other companies, building websites for churches across the country, managing and growing social media accounts for gospel music artists and ministry leaders; the business started picking up. It took about two years to develop a consistent clientele. It took long nights, a lot of tears and fear to get where I am today. No one understood why I walked away from a $50K/year job at the age of 26, but I knew that I was meant to be my boss. I trusted God, I trusted myself and I took a leap of faith.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road at all. I don’t think any entrepreneur experiences smoothness starting or at all for that matter. Most days consisted of a lot of fear; others consisted of extreme optimism. I had gotten to a point where I couldn’t afford my car note. I fell so far behind for a solid eight months. When the business started picking up, around January 2018, I called my creditor to begin making payments on what was past due. The lady said to me, “Ma’am there’s been an intent to repossess on your car for the last three months, how do you still have it?” It was at that moment that I knew that God was covering me and he was favoring my, seemingly, ridiculous idea to work for myself. I was able to pay off what I owed and then traded the vehicle in for a luxury car with a lower monthly payment. I called 2018 my grace year. It was really when everything started turning around for me.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I moved to Dallas in March of 2013! I never thought I would be living here, but I love it. Everything from the food to the culture to the people I do love it! If I had to choose something that I don’t like about Dallas, it’s that it is too big! Like, if I miss an exit on the highway, I have to ride another 7 miles to turn around! It’s crazy!
