Today we’d like to introduce you to Beth Hutson.
So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
With over 15 years as a lifestyle publicist, no two days are ever the same. I write and secure news stories in amazing local outlets all the way to national morning shows and many channels in the Discovery portfolio. My work as a publicist has lead me to entertainment opportunities, where I collaborate with networks on everything from development, casting and short-form content creation. On the design side, I lead a stellar team of designers from naming companies, to creating brand identities and strategic advertising campaigns. I assist my handsome photographer husband on shoots for a wide range of clients. On any given day, I’m responsible for concept creation, styling, creative direction and lighting.
As a producer, I direct an incredible video team that creates beautiful content from 15-second commercials to 30-minute documentaries and I write daily editorial content for brands to share their worthwhile stories and build relationships. When I’m not doing that, I’m mixing mocktails and advocating for more delicious alcohol-free beverages in the market through @theelevatedelixir, serving as an ambassador to @fwcamera and @fidgeyray boutique and I’m an executive board member for @filmfortworth. But my most important job is mommin’ two incredible children, Christian & Avery. In short, I’m thankful to be living my passion.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The life of an entrepreneur isn’t always easy, but smooth seas don’t make skillful sailors. However, my challenges have provided opportunities for growth and innovation and have helped me appreciate how sweet the successful chapters are. As a creative, you have to work hard to stay relevant and unique amongst talented competition and being self-employed will always keep you on your toes. And of course, life is all about balance. It’s an everyday balancing act as a wife, mom and business owner!

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I’ve been asked this question on a panel recently and you know, I’ve never looked at myself and thought, “you’re successful”. But when important stories have been told and brands that I represent are authentically connected to their audiences, that’s when I know that I’ve done my job. I feel successful when my clients are happy & successful.
Personally, I will always be a work in progress. Learning, growing and even failing at times. To me, being successful on a personal level is when you no longer worry about the world’s measure of your success. Being successful is when you can unapologetically be yourself. When you love others big and you love your imperfect self too. Success has so much less to do with the money you have in the bank. It has a lot more to do with the love you have in your heart.
