Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevin Smith.
Kevin, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started doing music at a very young age, started with being in the choir at my church growing up. As I grew older, I started to indulge into music on a personal level and I started to connect with it. Family members would tell me I always had the voice for it, so I started to actually take in and try to see what I could do. Speed up time a little my cousin and a close friend were telling me to like really take it seriously because I can actually rap so from that point I really just decided to give it a shot and while doing the process I started to love music and also started to love making music, the sound, the flow. The creativity in doing everything made me feel inspired.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Growing up, it’s never been a smooth road from, living in a rough neighborhood in Compton California, going to rough school and just being around negativity, I used that to help me get to where I am today and just talk about it in different ways.
Can you give our readers some background on your music?
Only1K5 is a brand and I’m representing that in every way, not only music but day to day personality, being a winner, able to learn and take in Information. My rapping abilities are being asset because I show my versatility, flow, and creativeness. I feel like what sets me apart from others is that I don’t necessarily try hard to rap or make a song. Also, I’m okay with failing to being able to win.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I was to start over, I would definitely took music more seriously at a younger age.
