Today we’d like to introduce you to Erika Pitstick.
Erika, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
In 2004, my husband Price started mowing yards with two of his high school friends. When a mentor of theirs named Garrett Dean gave them 30 of his clients, this gave them the motivation to continue growing their business. After graduation, Price’s two buddies left for college and the Marines, so Price decided to keep on the clients and run the business while he went to EMT school. From mowing lawns to landscaping, Price quickly saw a need in tree trimming and thought he would seek this field out. He found a passion in this career and decided to dive in. I met my husband in a mission trip in Israel in 2011 and got married in 2013. Fast forward to now and not only do we have three precious children (and one on the way), but we have had the pleasure of servicing some incredible homes, businesses and school districts in all DFW area. We currently have nine employees and are hiring for some new open positions. This is a transformative season of our lives – even in the midst of the challenges with the coronavirus, we are taking the time to find new ways to improve our service.
Video production has always been something I have enjoyed from a young age, so introducing this to our business is a dream come true. For the past few months, we have been working on filming and editing a special project. The idea is to capture videos of our family trying to live more sustainably by learning from other key people in the DFW who have been homesteading so we can incorporate the new insight into our home and business. We hope to encourage those watching so they too can enjoy fresh produce from their garden or fresh homemade bread from the comfort of their home. We will have special guests in these videos that will really educate people on this special topic- as this too is a journey we are also growing more in. We are working on a very unique cookbook that will be completed by July of 2020. The idea is to make the most of the ingredients in each recipe (and without saying too much) I promise its a book that will open your mind to a new way of living. I never thought I would write/publish books, but it’s strange how things just happen!
My journey as an author came from my first children’s book “My Daddy the Tree Climber,” which is a true story based on our life (My husband and kids). That inspired me to write other books and they are all available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble. My husband has always been so supportive not only of the ideas I bring into our business, but also my passion projects outside the business. I learn from him daily and I am so proud of his hard work ethic and vision that has brought Price Right Tree Service to such a level of excellence. He is a strong believer in doing things right the first time and that is why I am not surprised that we have the most and highest reviews on google or that we have been chosen for different awards (years in a row) and its all because he will make sure the team goes above and beyond every day with every job we get. It brings me joy to see him do what he is so good at. Thankful to be a part of this journey alongside with him.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Every business has its challenges and ours is no different. We have had our ups and downs for sure, but we don’t consider them as failures instead, we take them as learning opportunities. For couples out there who work with their spouse it’s really important that you set time apart to date and invest in your relationship. We are glad we learned that early on and quickly because we would never want the workload of the business to destroy our home life. We trust God as we take each day as it comes and be the best we can be leaving the rest to him!

I take care of payroll and oversee other expenses/budgeting but also specialize in marketing and mass communications (my bachelor’s degree). I love meeting new people so networking is something I really enjoy while Price, on the other hand, is ok with skipping those types of events. He works with the employee’s hands-on and deals with giving estimates and I work backstage on the business/marketing. I love our partnership and I am proud in seeing our skills unfold as a team unit with the rest of our incredible staff.
