Meet Charles Redfearn of REDLEE/SCS

Today we’d like to introduce you to Charles Redfearn.

Charles, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My father and I started our business in Tulsa, Oklahoma in December of 1982. Our very first account was Harvard Tower Bank and a monthly rate of $3050. Without outside financing our company now grosses over $35 million per year and we operate in 8 states. We are now in the process of transitioning to the third generation.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Our history has been filled with good and hard times over the last 35 years. By keeping our focus on our collective family, we helped each other through the hard times. We have endured 2 major rescissions, the loss of my wife and sister to fatal illnesses, and numerous governmental changes and imposed regulations and tax laws. Our company has grown through organic sales as well as 9 acquisitions.

REDLEE/SCS, Inc. represents the evolution of experience within the commercial janitorial industry, offering the finest in customer service and management expertise. Our top talent represents more than a century of experience and practical application of knowledge. We have an unparalleled commitment to excellence developed through our history and performance.

Originally REDLEE, INC., the company was founded by Charles and Chuck Redfearn in 1982, without outside financing. Their combined efforts provided a solid foundation for growth and success within the industry, that continues to today. Originally started in Tulsa, Oklahoma, REDLEE, INC. grew to become a major service provider within Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas.

In 1994, REDLEE, INC. merged with another company to expand its reach to become REDLEE/SCS, Inc. With that merger, the company immediately expanded its reach to the East Coast and has continued to grow in several major markets to become a national player in the industry. The company continues to maintain private ownership and family management.

Today, the company’s “hands-on” involvement in the daily operations, client contact, quality control, and open lines of communication help create a partnership between REDLEE/SCS, Inc. and its customers. Pricing:

  • Our industry cleans commercial real estate properties on average around $.05 per square foot per month.
  • Carpet cleaning will range from $.08 to $.20 per square foot depending on the type of carpet and method.
