Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Hood.
Nicole, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’m from Oklahoma City and I graduated from Oklahoma State University in December of 2013. I majored in Fashion Merchandising with a minor in Business Management. I moved to Irving, Texas in January of 2014 working as an Assistant Buyer. I had worked in corporate for over four years and in the Fashion industry for even longer before becoming a Realtor. When I was in corporate, I had a close group of girlfriends who slowly all ended up moving out of Texas. I then started a meetup group to meet new people in the DFW area hoping to make friends with like-minded professionals. Never did I think it would grow to what it is now and that I would have so many meaningful relationships come from it. It even worked well with my Real Estate career because I was easily able to network and meet new people while socializing at the best spots in DFW.
Has it been a smooth road?
It was not a smooth ride! When I first started my meetup group, I started off with just a few members and sometimes there would only be about 2-4 members to show up for events after 10+ would RSVP. There was even a few times when no one would show up after getting several RSVP’s. Now I have so many members that RSVP and that actually come out that I have to cut the RSVP off after a certain amount. I often get told that I have several men who come out to my events as well which is rare for several meetups. I think it’s an even ratio of men and women with an overall great vibe. That’s what keeps people coming back.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with eLITe Professionals – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I started a coed Meetup group, eLITe Professionals for people that were new to Dallas, Texas about two years ago. It has now grown to have over 1,300 members. We get together for happy hours, cookouts, game nights, financial investing discussions, travel abroad, and Battle of The Sexes events as we discuss the challenges we all face in the dating world. My group really took off big time once we started the Battle of The Sexes events. We normally start off with games and then lead into relationship topics and questions for the opposite sex. There are so many singles wanting to understand the male/female perspective and thought process when it comes to dating, so we normally have a great turnout of men and women at these events. Sometimes we would even have married couples come out and give advice as well at The Battle of The Sexes. We also do community service projects and volunteer work. Last year we worked on Period Dot Bags for young teens in South Dallas schools and we also made care bags for the homeless. I love being the host/organizer of this amazing group and because I’m a Realtor, I also love to network and help people to find homes here. I know the area very well and I also study the market so that I’m giving my clients accurate and informative data when they’re finally ready to find their dream home. For me, this meetup group is a great way to connect, network, and make life long friends while exploring the DFW area!
I’ve also gotten into the beauty industry and created my own Moisturizing Rosehip Oil called Her True Skin by Nicole, sold on Amazon.com for only $19.99. I’ve had this product on Amazon for almost two years now, and it’s also been listed as Amazon’s Choice several times! I’m now working to expand my skincare line on Amazon with a Vitamin C Serum as my next product by the end of summer or fall.
My newest project I’m currently working on now is my YouTube channel. After being in quarantine for weeks, I realized I finally had the time to actually get it set up and had a lot to offer as well. I’m starting to post my at home 20min workout routines, beauty regimens, and hair tips for natural hair. My YouTube Channel is called Nicole The Eccentric One.
Some of my members like to say that I do it ALL. I just try to stay busy and encourage people to have several streams of income. Never get too comfortable where you’re at.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love that it’s so much to do here in Dallas! There’s so many different restaurants and new ones opening often. I feel like it’s a great hot spot for young single professionals as well. It’s also very diverse here compared to Oklahoma. I love the housing market here as well. There’s forever hundreds of people moving to Dallas weekly and so it gives me opportunity to meet new people looking for homes or having people find me on Meetup looking to just get out to mingle. I also love the art galleries here. My group and I would always do the Dragon Street Art Gallery Nights on the first Thursday of the month in Dallas. Most of the galleries would have an open wine bar, displaying amazing art, and sometimes the artist would even be in attendance. We have amazing festivals, wine tasting events, and even the speakeasy’s are like nowhere else I’ve ever been.
I think my only dislike is the traffic but it’s worth it for all the other perks you get living here in Dallas!
