Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Zhou.
Joe & Anna’s family moved to Texas from Southern China (Quanqdong Province) in early 1980’s.
They brought authentic Hong Kong Style cooking of Dimsum, BBQ, and true Wok cooking…fresh & healthy ingredients with friendly family style atmosphere.
Their signature dish is the Spicy “Live” crab & fried rice. An authentic dish prepared specially by fishermen in Hong Kong.
Voted by the Dallas Morning News as the best Dimsum place in Dallas…3 years in a row.
Had 3 different locations in DFW.
Have 3 separate dining areas for different functions (casual dining, wedding & special celebrations, corp. conference room).
7-day service with order on line. Offering delivery service, banquet & catering.
Actively participated in Dallas cultural & charity events. Active presence to support community fairs and festivals.
Active Social Media presence in FB, Instagram, LinkedIn & Twitter. We have a 4.3 FB rating and 18% customer engagement rate.
Joe acts as the executive chef and owner that continually promotes the latest Chinese dishes from US, Canada, and China. He also is a compassionate leader in developing a strong and high-performance team at the restaurant.
Anna acts as the hospitality specialist in marketing, customer relationship, and special event planning. She is also actively involved in implementing new technology to help her employees and improve services to the customer.
They continue to grow their mobile device presence with 3rd parties (such as ChowNow) to make it easy to do business.
What make them unique is the respect for their customers and vendors. Offering the best value-added product and service. Continue to bring excitement to their dining experience with attractive menus items and customer focused service.
They love what they do. They want JS Chen’s to be the best restaurant in Dallas and in the world.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
We are fortunate to have many support and guidance from our friends & mentors throughout our business growth in the highly competitive food business. In turn, we also offer our help to others in need.
A welcome challenge is the significant growth and changes in the DFW demographics with “transplant families” from all over US and other nations. This elevates our skills in languages, menus, cultural awareness, and facility preparation.
Our business structure is stable which allows us to expand surgically in social media, technology and people development.
Retaining the best talent in our staff is one of our priority. We provide competitive salary and a caring/homely working environment. We strive to make J.S. Chen’s the best place to work.
Please tell us about J. S. Chen’s Dimsum & BBQ.
One of the main ingredients of our success is the investment in our people. We encourage our team members to have pride, ownership, and accountability. We understand our staff is the most important asset of our restaurant.
Case in point, we conduct regular team development exercises with our team members. This breakdown the taboo of boss vs employees in a workplace. We have fun, share success & failure alike. Most importantly, recognize the true contributors to our business…our workers.
Our Dimsum segment is an important part of our business portfolio. It requires the freshest ingredients, the best presentation, and an efficient serving logistic to satisfy demanding customers.
We utilize a business model similar to the Toyota Production System of waste elimination, as well as respect for our team members and our customers. This philosophy extends from our food supply chain to maintaining a clean and efficient work place every day.
What sets us apart from others is our continuous pursue of excellence by benchmarking our competitions around the world. Willing to re-invest in our facility, services and the development of our people.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Probably nothing differently on our business approach. However, I would have dedicated more time with my children while they were growing up.
