Meet Keyatta Johnson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Keyatta Johnson.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
After college, I ventured into the Mortgage Industry back in 2001. I started as a customer service representative and worked my way up to an underwriter. You name the bank, I most likely worked for them. I thought about leaving corporate back in 2005 to pursue a career in real estate but I was too afraid. In 2016, I decided it was time and began taking my real estate courses. Once I passed my exam, I still wasn’t quite ready to leave corporate but in 2018, I took the leap and started real estate full time. It’s been quite the journey but well worth it.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely Not! I’ve worked since the age of 15 years old so I was accustomed to receiving a paycheck every week or biweekly. Transitioning to self-employment and becoming an entrepreneur has been quite the journey. Juggling family life, kids, while building my brand and clientele was overwhelming at times. Although I had been in the mortgage industry for 15+ years, real estate was a whole new ball game for me and I wanted to make sure that I was learning as much as I could so that I could service my clients to the best of my ability.

Alright – so let’s talk business. What else should we know about you and your career so far?
I’m a licensed full-time REALTOR with JP and Associates REALTORS. I specialize in working with first-time homebuyers and enjoy helping them navigate through their journey to homeownership. I also assist sellers who are looking to sell their home, whether they are downsizing or moving up! I have a true passion for helping others achieve their goal. I pride myself in being available to my clients, not just during the purchase but afterwards as well. We spend so much time together throughout the process, we become family by the time we are standing at closing screaming “IT’S KEY TIME”!

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I pride myself in integrity. Purchasing a home is one of the biggest transactions a person will make in their lifetime. I take my client’s trust to heart and always make sure that I lookout for what is best for the client and their family. I work hard to change the narrative that all real estate agents are the same by going above and beyond to ensure that no detail is left unexplained. I want every client that I work with to absolutely LOVE their home… there’s no place like it!
